*$&(#&!! Thrush!

Dag-frikkin- NAB-it!

I've been chalking up sore nipples to the whole tongue tie/fixing latch thing...but...

her latch is better now, we're over a week out from surgery and they're hurting MORE, but not during nursing.

And saturday, I started getting random shooting pains on the left. Sunday, they got worse and spread to teh right. This morning, Im itchy.

UGHHHHH.

I have Gentian violet, and I got the midwives to call in APNO and diflucan (this has GOT to be intraductal, nothing else feels like this). Here I thought I'd avoided it. GAH.

Star

ETA: Im using reusable cotton breast pads. Can I "de-yeast" them with vinegar and hot washing or do I have to suck it up and replace them? (they're expensive!)

Oh bummer,Star. I have yet to encounter thrush (although I hope I never do!)

I don't have much info for you.Daniel has a nasty diaper rash with I have been told looks like a yeast infection. Sad Does your dd have anydiaper rashes?

I hope things clear up quickly!

no, she doesnt have any symptoms, luckily, at least not diaper rash or white spots in her mouth. She IS gassy and cranky, which can be a sign of yeast overgrowth. I think this may be a result of the antibiotics I got due to the c-section. I had this with Brayden too, so I know what it feels like.

Im home from 2 pharmacy trips where I got the diflucan (2 weeks worth), Jack Newman's all purpose nipple ointment (a compounded medicine) and gentian violet.

hopefully it'll get better FAST

As far as your reusable pads go, I googled getting rid of yeast with cloth diapers knowing that this is a big issue for those that CD. Found this: http://allaboutclothdiapers.com/killing-the-dreaded-yeast-monster/

So if you're willing to work with your pads a bit, they're savable. But I'd definitely stick to disposable pads till your 100% done with this. Just know that there's a chance you could reinfect yourself. Sad

Sorry about the thrush. That stinks.

As for killing yeast, you have to be aggressive. I'd use disposable pads until it clears up and then sanitize your pads and bras. Personally, I'd boil the pads, then bleach them, then sun them. Do something similar to your bras. Whatever they'll survive (hopefully the yeasties won't).
