    Default ***Breastfeeding Support Thread***

I know several people were interested in having a support thread for breastfeeding but I didn't see where one had been started. So here we go!

Yeah there is a BF board, but it's nice to have some here too

Plenty of mamas that have BF previously, full of advice and knowledge.

I nursed Ds almost 14 months and went back to work after 12 weeks and pumped. It was hard but worth it! The BF boards are great. Some really knowledgeable ladies over there!!!!

My milk came in! I'm letting Carter nurse and I'm pumping. I got two ounces pumped my first time! Yay!

Awesome Jenni!! I nursed DS for 13-14 months. He actually never had any formula (though I have NOTHING against formula DH and I are both formula babies and we're just fine! I was just lucky to have an easy time of it). I look forward to this thread especially if I have any latching issues -- DS was pretty good right out of the gate I never saw a LC or did anything special. I'm hoping it goes as well this time but I know every time is different!

We're actually in the process of buying a chest freezer so my milk can be frozen for 12 months. I had CRAZY over supply with Evan and pumped 5-10oz extra a day at first. Now on one hand I probably shouldn't do that only b/c it was hard to wean off it BUT the extra milk was really nice when he was older and my pumping wasn't as efficient.

Wahoo for mama milk! 2 oz is a really great start Jenni, you should be proud!

I fed DS up until 1 year and then he weaned himself, it was sad but it was nice to make it to the year mark. DS was tongue tied at birth and had trouble latching the first couple of days, we had his tongue snipped while we were at the birthing center and DS made leaps and bounds with feeding.

I was a formula fed baby too, Katie. I just found bfing a lot cheaper and easier.

That is a great start! Keep at it. I pump and nurse. It really works for us. My little porkchop can really eat! He had 8 ounces yesterday. The pumping helps keep my breasts from aching and also is helping me transition in by giving my nipples a break from his super latch. I'm so happy that your twins are home and you're doing so well. Something that I thought I'd mention is I dab a tiny bit of lanolin on each nipple before I pump for lubrication. It really makes pumping more comfortable.

Ok girls...I'm not feeling my milk 'let down'. That tingly feeling that the bfing books talk about is not there. I can pump about 2 ounces on each side for a session with alternating putting Carter to breast. Do you think maybe my milk hasn't completely arrived? Or maybe I have low or just adequate supply? I don't leak at all. Insight, anyone?
