Like the other girls have said, if it's working fine for the both of you why change it? I just have to say again how amazing you are for sticking with BF with all of the issues that you have had!

Mine is definitely tingly, but not painful at all. I'm just glad I know what it actually is now (after four kids lol), because when I'm at work and I feel that let down, I'm able to race to the restroom, pump in hand, and get 3-4 oz that way... which is a whole bottle for Trystan!

Thankfully it was just that one night. He's definitely a cluster feeder in the late afternoons and evenings that I'm with him if I've worked that day. He'll usually eat every hour for five or six hours straight before I can get him settled and full for bed!

This is me. I wear them when I'm at work as well as at home. I've gotten pretty used to them now... shower, brush teeth, deodorant, lanolin cream, breast pads... lol!

I think Gianni is going through a growth spurt, he woke up every 2 hours last night which he has been waking up every 3-4. Yesterday his dr. Prescribed him some probiotic drops and reflux medication. The probiotics he takes everyday and the reflux medication he takes only when needed. Hopefully he starts to get some relief.

I hope he does, too... poor little guy!

So my freezer stash of BM has totally dwindled down to nothing! I think I have three bags left in there! I just don't understand how when DH is with Trystan, he never has to get into the stash, as the bottles I pump the day before are enough for him until I get home from work... but when my mom is with him she just goes nuts with all of the frozen BM! I swear anytime he makes a peep she shoves a bottle in his mouth, when I think some of the times he just wants to be held! I don't get it, and now I'm gonna have to somehow get my stash back up!!

Ugh, that sucks about your freezer stash dwindling! I hope you can get stocked up again!

My let down is really painful too. I'll get a let down about 2 hours after feeding too, even if he's not eating. Then it lets down AGAIN when I feed him, usually only 15-20 minutes later. I can't feel a 2nd letdown while feeding but I can tell when it happens because all of a sudden I can hear him taking huge gulps again. At least it's the good hind milk by that point!

Em's latch is getting worse I swear. I spend the first 2 minutes of feedings pulling his darn lips out wider. Oh well, we've exclusively BF'd for 2 months now! It's not wonderful but it's cheap and easy!

Wahoo! Congrats on reaching that huge milestone We'll hit 3 months of breastfeeding (not EBF, though we do about 10 nurses a day) on Wednesday. I hear you about not feeling like it is wonderful - in my experience, each day has gotten a little easier. I'm even kinda starting to enjoy it, and breastfeeding 'til 2 (my original plan) doesn't seem quite so daunting any more.

Thanks for the feedback on the shield. I think we'll keep at it. On another note, we've started using a supplemental nursing system (SNS) for our necessary supplementing. SO calls it a "formula holster" - it literally looks like a little tank of formula that hangs around my neck with a tiny tube that goes into the baby's mouth. Dealing with keeping the tube in L's mouth and medical tape and everything else is a huge PITA, but I really love the SNS! It saves so much time from having to follow breastfeeding with a bottle

    Question here!

Do any of you have babies that are uber-sensitive to caffeine, like mine? I can't have a cup of coffee/diet coke if I want him to sleep, sigh.

Had a really rough night last night and today I'm working a full shift (another sigh). I got a coffee this morning because I felt like I didn't have another choice. I'm pump-and-dumping. Do you think I need to dump all three pumps, or would just the first two (total of 4 hours since the cup of coffee was finished) suffice? TIA!

Trystan isn't sensitive to caffiene at all. I probably drink 2-3 diet cokes a day and coffee every morning and he doesn't seem to mind it at all (no problems sleeping). I did have a beer last night, though, and he acted very funny while BF through the night and this morning. I don't think it had anything to do with it, as I did plenty of research on when and how to drink while BF. I fed him at 6PM, then had my beer right after and didn't feed him again until around 11PM (he went to sleep that whole time). Everything I read said that the alcohol is out of your system after three hours and that you DO NOT have to pump and dump before you feed baby again as long as it's been over the three hours. I'm thinking that maybe the drink changed the flavor of the milk, as he kept pulling away and getting mad, although I know it was flowing just fine because he kept taking big gulps. IDK, but I don't think I'll be having any more drinks until he's weaned, as I don't want to upset him like that again. So Jasmine, in answer to your question, you don't need to pump and dump, as I would treat your cup of coffee like my beer... that anything you drink makes it's way out of your system after three hours.

Gianni is sensitive to caffeine, but so am I. If I do have a soda we both pay for it so I just cut it out of my diet completely. As for coffee, I drink half caff. That folders makes because full caffeine coffee gives him horrible gas and heartburn. I do miss my other flavor coffees though! Anyways I agree, 3 hours after should be fine.

You know what else I think is so strange, while pregnant I could eat anything and my stomach wouldn't be upset(I have GERD) but as soon as I'm not pg anymore all my problems come back? pits hard to get back on a bland diet after 9 months of eating whatever I want!

There's not much in the way of good articles on this site, but if you go to kellymom dot com and search caffeine you'll find an interesting article. It says younger babies have less tolerance than those over 3 months and again at over 6 months. Looks like perhaps caffeine can build up in them? My lil guy has had a few fussy feedings, not sure it's caffeine related though except for the one cranky evening when I had a regular drip coffee about 5pm (oops). Fussy feedings drive me crazy he squirms and windmills and kicks and bops his head all around, smashes his head into my BB... little monkey. Seems to happen in the evening when he has been fighting sleep & might be overtired. I've been battling a wicked cold for 2 flippin weeks now and think it might also be related to that, though my supply seems okay.
