Ugghhh speaking of protection, I'm SOOOO sick of being on the pill again. First off, I hate taking them to begin with, especailly having to remember to take this stupid mini pill at the exact time every day. Secondly, I swear it's making me gain weight like crazy, so I'm really having to watch what I eat even more than usual. I keep putting off DH getting the big V because deep down the thought of it makes me sad... but I guess it's what's best.

As far as baby, I think I'm gonna have to up my "cookie" dosage. The second night I did wake up more full, but it seems to have leveled off. I've been eating five a day, but I've barely noticed a difference. I even upped my fenugreek to nine pills a day, and I still don't smell like maple syrup. I feel like I might OD on the stupid things lol! I know you're supposed to take them until you smell like syprup that way you know they're working, but I don't know what else to do! Trystan wanted to eat every ninety minutes earlier today, and I swear it seemed like he wasn't getting full! It's like I know it's coming out, but I don't think I'm producing as much as he wants/needs. What else can I do?

well on the bright side if he's eating like that it should kick your body in to high gear -- maybe give it a day or two and see if it improves? Also don't forget to drink LOTS of water! It's probably always warm where you are but man it just got warm here and I'm having to drink a ton and I tend to forget at work!

DH and I need to figure out if we're done or not.....I need a little more time to decide.....

I definitely do drink TONS of water! I even gave up soda because I wanted to make sure my main source of fluids was water. I'll have a cup of coffee every morning and maybe an iced tea during the day, but otherwise all I drink is water. I just feel as though lately, even though I know I'm producing milk, it's not enough to keep up with how hungry he is or how much he needs. I'm only able to pump about 4-5 oz during my work day, and that's just enough for one bottle for him. I have to pump each morning while he's eating to get another bottles worth for him to have that day while I'm at work as well. On my days off I'm able to build my freezer stash up a little bit, but then it dissappears when my mom has him. It's such hard work and I'm trying to stay positive about it... but it's even harder now that I'm having these issues and eating these stupid cookies (which I DON'T want to be eating because I'm really trying to eat healthy) AND taking nine fenugreek pills a day (which I'm not even sure how healthy that is)... it's exhausting just typing about it.

I've never seen anything on either Jack Newman's webite, the book Making More Milk or elsewhere about there being an upper-dosage of fenugreek. I think I shared with Krystal on the Everything Breastfeeding board that I was personally going to quit fenugreek because I read that it could lower thyroid function...but other than that, I've never seen anything about ill effects.

For me, the number of fenugreek I had to take to smell really potent was about 12 tablets per day. Sometimes I'd take 15. Our bathroom smelled like iHop! HTH

Lol! Yea I'm taking nine per day and still no maple syrup smell... maybe I'm immune to them?!?! Between the fenugreek and the lactation cookies my milk seems to be doing much better. My breasts are always full (although thankfully no leaking) and he seems to get enough to eat now. One question though, how often are your LOs eating? I swear Trystan BF every two hours! It's like he's a newborn... is that normal? Only when he's taking a long nap does he ever go longer, so it seems odd that he's eating like he's two weeks old again?

Rory eats a lot....I have no idea how many times a day I feed him but sometimes I think it's even more often then every 2 hours. I think it's normal....

Emerson is really hungry too. He will sometimes eat after 3 hours but mostly it is every 2 hours still. Like today it was every 2 hours except for one 3 hour stint. Kind of annoying that it is so often still! Makes me want to start solids, but I've never started earlier than 5 months.

Maybe our babes are going thru growth spurts. Seems Liam is back to every 3 hours but he's sleepy a lot. He just takes little powernaps but seems to need them often - Mr Crankypants. He has only done the teeniest of poops in 3 days, just a shart really. I try not to worry, but he has always been a 1-2x daily kinda boy. He is peeing like a champ tho. I think when he starts to finally poop I'll have to sit him in the bathtub, lol.

I'm kind of wondering if all of this extra stuff that I'm doing to "supposedly" boost my milk supply is really working? Nine fenugreek per day, lactation cookies, gatorade... I don't want to stop it all just in case but it's such a pain to keep doing all of this every day. Plus trying to pump while I'm at work. I'm so happy that I'm still BF but I'm exhausted...
