I definitely have a hard time dropping weight while I'm BF. I even went weeks being really strict with my diet, only eating healthy foods, no sugar and watching my carb intake, and nothing. Granted, I have zero time to exercise, what with working full time and four kids... so I have learned to just put up with being unhappy with my body until T turns one, then I'll wean him onto vitamin D milk. I'll miss that bond so much, but not fitting into any of my clothes has made me super unhappy these past few months, especially since we're coming into the summertime and I can't rock my bathing suit this year. One year was always my goal anyway. Once he hits that mark (I may even push it to the end of the year) I'll still BF him, but I will be going back to my low carb lifestyle (no more than 20 per day) and if it messes with my supply then so be it, and if not, I'll continue to BF him... but at least I won't drive myself crazy about it.
I am one to lose weight right after I give birth and then I put on like 5 pounds and get rid of them! Of course I don't watch what I eat or work out while BF, but you would think chasing after 2 toddlers all day would do something? Lol I'm honestly not worrying about it, once Gianni is done BF, then I'll get back to my work out like crazy mode. I love the p90x program! It has amazing results withing weeks! I started that program when DS2 was six months old and I got in great shape but it really effected my supply so I had to stop until he was weaned.
I really want to do that insanity workout! I'm so looking forward to it once T hits one year. It's appealing to me because you don't have to have any weights or resistance anything... it's just you working out and sweating like crazy!
I have a new lactation cookie recipe for any of you that are having supply issues! It's DH's grandmother's No Bake Cookies recipe, and I just added the flax seed meal and brewers yeast (since the recipe already calls for 3 cups of oatmeal!)! It's so good, and the flavors of the meal and the yeast are totally masked by all of the other sweet flavors in the recipe! Here you go:
1 stick butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 can (5oz) evaporated milk
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp salt
Combine these ingredients in a pan and bring to a boil, then quickly add the following:
3 cups oatmeal
1 cup sweetened coconut flakes
1 cup marshmallows
1 bag (2 cups) semi sweet chocolate chips
2-4 tbsp brewers yeast
2 tbsp flax seed meal
Stir together well, until the marshmallows are melted, then just dollop spoonfulls of the mixture on a large platter and let sit for an hour to harden... and enjoy!!
The beach body work outs are awesome! Defiantly worth the money!
Those cookies sound good but too good :) I'll have to stick to boring steel cut oats with a touch of brown sugar. Good for supply and weight/health. i have NO self control with cookies! We finally got the Easter Candy gone, I ate WAY too much of it!
So I counted up how much milk I have in our chest freezer last night. 510 oz. I think I need to stop obsessing about pumping more than I defrost. I typically defrost 16oz on Sunday night for Monday then try to pump 18-20oz at work M, T, Wed so I freeze 22 or so ounces on Wed night after work. Then I don't really pump the rest of the week. But at 510 oz even with my 2 day work trip (where I don't plan to bring anything back just pump and dump) I will be more than fine. It's like an obsession for me though.....I have issues :) I'm totally laid back about most things but since my fist never got formula I have this weird drive to try and be sure Rory doesn't either. It's not even sensible b/c I was a formula baby and so was DH I have NOTHING against formula. I'll just chalk it up to a weird parenting thing....
It would make me cry to pump and dump... it's like gold to me lol...
I hear you Krystal! It will feel a little like going against my religion but I have to fly there and back and I have no desire to deal with the airport bs with milk and my boss.....so since I have so much frozen I'm going to just accept that I'm dumping....
I would totally make a federal case out of an airline trying to make me dump my BM lol! I'm sure there's some law out there protecting us from that sort of discrimination!!
Oh it's not against the law though I think there are a number of regulations and you could always get dry ice and check the milk too. I simply don't want to deal with it all -- explaining to my boss why I need to find dry ice in chicago, why I'm checking a cooler (I think I'd have more than able to be carried on) etc etc so since I have 500 oz in the freezer I'm not going to stress about the details of flying with pumped milk this time
Yep seems like u have it covered Katie! WTG on that freezer stash!!!
A friend asked me yesterday if Liam takes a bottle, which made me realize he's only had it once!!! Should really try again before he develops issues :S
