Congrats on your huge breastfeeding milestone! Wahoo! I can't believe our babies are so big, either. Laszlo will be four months on the 9th - wowsa. We're still breastfeeding, and it is going pretty good. I don't know if I mentioned, but I have determined he has a mild lip tie, which really affected transference in the beginning. The tie exacerbated my low supply and nipple damage. He's now gotten big enough that the tie doesn't really affect him and he doesn't need the shield, yay!

Retrospectively, I shouldn't have beaten myself up over using the shield. I say if a tiny piece of silicon is critical to keeping your baby at the breast, use it.

Congrats to you, Jasmine, on keeping up with BF and doing such a fantastic job!! DS2 had a tongue tie that we had to have snipped... it was pitiful.

BF is still going strong with Trystan and I! I am so glad of that, saving me hundreds of dollars in formula costs!!

That's great that you don't need the shield anymore! With my second we used the shield any I remember feeling such accomplishment when we stopped using it!

We are still BF too, I love how the longer you BF the easier it gets. AND all the money it saves! I was joking around with my husband and I told him "I don't thing I can breastfeed and anymore" (just to see what he would say) and he said " no! That's my truck note!" it's amazing how much it actually saves you!

Aimee, I wish I could say that about my truck too, but I think I spend more on my truck than I would on formula... unfortunately lol!! I too am so extatic that BF has worked out so well for me and Trystan this time around. The longest I ever was able to BF my other babies was maybe one month at best. I just didn't educate myself enough and didn't know what I was doing. Finally on my last baby I get it lol!

We are still going strong with BF too! I am so proud and can't believe I made it this far, considering how dreadful it was for the first 8 weeks. I was about to give up around Christmas, even went out and bought bottles and formula, then about 5 hours later I talked to my mom and she urged me to keep going. Don't you love a good kick in the pants from your mom?

SO glad I did keep going. Em still doesn't have a great latch but I know which positions work best (I usually lie down in bed beside him when he eats during the day - the only time I sit up is when we are away from home, he gets a way better latch lying down facing the breast.) so we are making it through!

I do need him to start taking bottles occasionally though. I have a choir concert in just over a week and I wont be able to feed him. He has taken a bottle 2 or 3 times before from MIL when I had dentist appts, etc but he really fought it. Hopefully he will get used to it soon.

I plan to BF until 6 months and then see how it goes. DD self weaned at 7 months.

Sandra, what types of bottles were you using for him? I know a lot of times it has to do with what age you first give them a bottle, because I know if it's later sometimes they won't want it (unlike Trystan, who got his first bottle at two weeks old thanks to me going back to work so soon). Isn't it the best feeling in the world to know that you're doing whatever it takes to BF your LO! I had some real problems with T this past week because my boss was out of town so I had to work 50 hours and 6 shifts in a row, and needless to say he's not used to that. So he ended up getting more bottles than breast, and by Wednesday night he was refusing the breast. He was pulling away, screaming and crying, because he was expecting immediate milk flow and that obvisously wasn't happening with the breast (we all know it takes a minute or so for the milk to let down). I had to take an extra day off work to work with him on getting him comfortable on the breast again. Plus because I worked so much my supply was dwindling, so I got a lactation cookie recipe from one of the December girls and some other great milk boosting info, so I'm just hoping that it works!!

Great work all you gals! Jasmine YAY for no more shield & Krystal I hope your supply gets back up there quick, I bet you'll be fine.

On the cruise with all the disruption I was happy to have my BBs at the ready. But, I was wondering how the heck my BBs would work as he started demanding sometimes every 90 minutes.. and nursing during the night again too which he hadn't done for ages. Well he's just getting back to more 'normal' this week, his cold is all but gone now so I'm sure that has a lot to do with it. He STTN last 2 nights and I woke up in pain again, it seems so funny after all this time to be back at that engorgement stage .

Yes, the lactation cookies really seem to be working, as when I woke up at 5am this morning with T my boobs were definitely HUGE with milk, and they haven't been like that for a couple of weeks now! I'm hoping to be able to get more out by pumping as well, because it looks like he wants 5 oz per feeding now instead of 4. I've also upped my fenugreek to nine per day. If all else fails I'll start the gatorade lol!

YAY for how great everyone is doing! All's well here in nursing land too! Work hasn't been a problem, I'm still freezing more a week than I'm using....I don't know how much I have in my freezer now probably close to 350oz but that's good b/c this summer I'll have some work travel and DH will need it.

AF hit me this week! WTF? LOL I didn't get her until JUNE with Evan. I wasn't impressed. Maybe b/c of work....or Rory just eats less than Evan did. Evan ate A LOT all the time. He never just took one side and cluster fed like a mad man. Rory is more a snack a little here snack a little there kind. So I suppose I will have to deal with AF. I am SO glad we've been careful though using protection -- Rory is enough baby for me for a while!
