I have a yeast infection again. It seems I get rid of one and 3-4 weeks later it's back. I still have some cream from last time left which I am using because it's hard to get a doctors appt and expensive as well. DS has no signs of it in his mouth, but it's pretty bad on my boob, very red and itchy. Any ideas on how to hopefully stop it coming back or remedies?
I'm so sorry! I know there is actually an anti-yeast diet you can go on, but I don't know anything about it (other than it exists). You might google it and see what you find. Sorry you're struggling with this - it sounds really awful :(

When I had trush with DS I got rid of it using Gentian violet.
It is also recomended to let your nipples bask in sunlight for a little bit.

I'm sorry you're still dealing with this, Wendy. :( Based on my experience working in a microbiology lab with yeast for 3 years, I can tell you that no amount of reducing your yeast intake is going to help reduce thrush infection rates. It doesn't work like that. Now, if you were rubbing yeast all over your boobs that might be another story and I think that's sort of what's going on. Yeast are determined little buggers. They won't survive your digestive tract but they will hang out in your bras and nursing pads despite repeated washing. If you think your bras will survive it, I recommend boiling them. If they are white, I'd recommend bleaching them. Then stick them out in the sun for awhile. Otherwise, it might be best to chuck them.
I wish I could chuck them to stop this issue, but it is too hard to get more because of my size, there is nothing locally that goes big enough and I can't get out of town for a few weeks. I have finally cleared it up given my bras a good wash and sun and will run a canestan wash as well once they have more at the supermarket. Might try boiling them though if all that doesn't kill it.

I was thinking about this and remembered how I treated our cloth diapers for yeast. You could try soaking them in hot water with tea tree oil and grapefruit seed extract. You could just fill up a bowl or small bucket and add 10 to 20 drops of each and let them soak for a good while. Then wash them and dry them in full sun. Treating your bras and nursing pads is a must!Quote:

This time nursing I got thrush all by myself and my OB ordered diflucan. I dont know how you feel about taking that.
