You can probably get the doc to prescribe it, but since it isn't FDA approved, insurance doesn't cover it. I pay $80 per month for my 90mg/day. Just be sure you have a compounding pharmacy near by that can do it for you once you have a prescription.

Actually, now that I've checked, Rebecca's online source is cheaper!

Rebecca, that's awesome! I wish it worked that well for me. Well, any little bit helps, doesn't it?

I just wanted to pop in and say how much I admire all you pumping mamas. I hate pumping and don't know if I would have the dedication in me to do what you ladies do.

I think I'm done, ladies. I was really hoping to make it to 6 months since we are only 3 weeks away, but I don't think it's going to happen. Sam just hasn't been eating well over the last 4 days or so (he's a little constipated, so that may have affected his appetite), and it had caused a pretty big dip in my supply. I've been trying to pump after feedings and again late at night, but so far it isn't helping. I'm so tired of the roller coaster! Maybe it is just time to give in and go for the formula. I know my husband would be relieved if I would do that. He hates how stressed I get when nursing isn't going smoothly. I'm not telling him yet because I'm secretly holding out for the milk fairy to visit the bbs sometime today, but I really think this is it.

On another note (just in case we keep nursing) - How long is your LO nursing on each side now? Have they gotten faster?

I'm sorry! You've done soooo good and made it nearly 6 months, that is awesome and something to be really proud of!!

As far as how fast, Kaylin usually nurses for 10 minutes max. Unless she is playing or being lazy then she'll go 15-20mins.

First of all, I agree - be proud of yourself Ginny for how hard you've worked at this! You've done a fantastic job and tried everything to keep it going as long as possible... if this is it, you almost made it to the 6 month mark which is fantastic in itself. ((hugs))

Grady only goes about 5-7 minutes per session during the day, but at night or when he's trying to lull himself to sleep he can be on there for 20-30 minutes. I probably should pop him off when he's doing it but he's my last baby so I spoil him a little.

Thanks for the encouragement, girls! I really have worked very hard. At one point I didn't even think we'd make it to three months, so we come a long way. I did a pro/con list, and I actually have more pros for formula feeding at this point! Of course breastfeeding is the healthiest option for Sam, but with struggling to have enough, a lot of other things get easier/better if we switch. I'll let you know how it goes. I think I'll probably work toward bottles starting tomorrow. Who knows, maybe I'll get lucky and be able to nurse a couple of times a day.

You should be proud of yourself! You've done a great job, mama.

Violet is still nursing each side for a LONG time...sometimes as long as 20 minutes during the evening and night. During the day, she's 5 min. max - but ALL day!

I called the LC at the hospital to discuss ways for increasing production - mainly b/c I was feeling her out to see about getting a prescription for the Domperidone at a compounding pharmacy. She highly recommended it but said that there isn't any pharmacies in the US that will fill it but I could order online - I know that is BS, I pulled up a list of the compounding pharms. She said we can put you on reglan but I don't recommend because of the side effects.

I just went ahead and ordered it online. I will run out before it gets here. Last time customs took several days before they released it.
