Rebecca - You must be so psyched to be down to pumping once a day!! I honestly don't know how you did it this long..CONGRATS! It sounds like Kay is loving the night time boobs so I am sure she'll be at it for a while!

Since Ev's cold last week, he has been a nursing monster! I am not kidding, that's all he wants to do when I am around. I love nursing but it's been a bit taxing this past week...I hope he gets back to his old self soon.

Rebecca - just because you're not pumping, I don't think you'll lose your supply. Just as long as you're consistently nursing morning and night, I think your body'll adjust to that new schedule. Around this time they start cutting back on nursing naturally anyway.. I can't remember exactly when it happened, but I know that by 18 months both of my other two were down to just one nursing a day, at night. And I still had a good supply with just that.

Laurie - I hope Evan is giving your nips a rest! lol

Bonnie - I really hope you're managing to wade your way through all the expectations swirling around your house! It must be so tough.. ((hugs))

As for me... I have ANOTHER blocked duct. Bright red spot under the boob for about 3 days now.. I've been doing the hot cloths and massaging but this one doesn't seem to be giving up as easily as the other ones have. It's a bit strange too, as it isn't nearly as painful as the other ones were. They had a rock hard spot, and latching on was torture.. this one is a hot red spot, no real lump, and the latching on is only mildly painful. But it's lasting.. it's worrying me a bit. Anyone had one llike this??

I've had blocked ducts but never one like that....

I definatly wouldn't worry about losing your supply, I am back down to a AA in my BBs they just feel pure empty, And I've been nursing her like once a day the past few weeks, But yesterday I nursed her three times, And Everytime I still felt my milk drop, It takes a couple more minutes at times, my body does it, If its your baby on your boob, your body will produce milk for her, You'll be nursing at night for a while yet. But I wouldn't worry about pumping just to keep your supply, you know how much I've gone back and forth, but I'm fully confident that I could start nursing her 7 times a day again, and I would produce for her everytime, I'm excited for you to be done pumping, That has to suck, Good for you for keeping up with it this long.

Oh and Kirsten I'm managing, My DH has gotten a little better, But he still wants some nights , So he just asks If I could nurse her a couple different times every other day, So I have, But shes honestly no fun to try to put to sleep with a bottle, She wont fall asleep for you, I think it was sunday I thought I would Just stop again, And It was a nap time, And she needed a bottle(these usually dont fall together, She always goes to sleep for naps without bottles or nursing) but I gave it a try, and she just wanted to play, And I thought, this is not how I'm spending the last couple weeks.

    Woohoo!

We made it to a FULL YEAR of breastfeeding and pumping YAY!

We've been trying to wean Kaylin onto whole milk with absolutely no success. She refused to take any sort of milk besides breastmilk...we've tried strawberry & chocolate, soy milk, and rice milk...whole milk and 2% milk. I can't say I blame her.

I talked the local LLC leader in my area and she confirmed that it is not neccessary for her to have whole milk as long as she is getting appropriate nutrition from meals during the day. She loves yogurt, cottage cheese, and string cheese - so those are great ways to gain what she would get from milk. She told me that if she refuses the milk, don't push it - instead just give her water to fullfill the liquid needs and offer extra food at meal times for calories.

I really can't believe I am almost done with pumping...It's sad but also such a huge weight off. I can finally regain my days back and not worry about pumping! I still fully plan on nursing when we're home together, I hope that doesn't end for awhile. She loves her milkies!

First off: yay to everyone on this thread! I'm always reading the posts but haven't really joined in.

That being said I feel like I need to tell someone: Today I did not pump at work. It breaks my heart, but I really haven't been getting anything worth while the past couple of weeks. Chalen will be on next Sunday and I'm so happy that I was able to pump this long and he will still nurse when we are together, but it's kind of hard to let the pumping go. Don't get me wrong I hated the actual act of pumping, but I loved what I was able to do for my little man baby.

This too shall pass and soon he won't want to nurse anymore and then he'll get a job and move out. . .

Of course, typing this makes my boobs twitch! (I'm still at work) Hopefully he's ready to nurse when I get home!

((hugs)) Jen.. that must be a tough milestone, that first day not pumping. I think I'd be a blubbering mess! But like you said, you've done it a WHOLE YEAR which is just amazing.. again.. HATS OFF to all you pumping mamas - those of us who can just whip out the old boobola at all hours have it so easy compared to you guys! And also, you'll continue to bf him when you're at home, which at this age is all he really needs anyway. I hope the transition went easily for you.. and yay for having your time back to yourself too!

Today is the first day that I haven't pumped...I am SO SORE right now. I feel like my boobs are going to fall off they are so heavy.

Kaylin is now on one sippy of breastmilk and two sippies of whole milk. She isn't really drinking the whole milk but we still offer. I spoke with the Pedi & LLL Leader and they told me as long as she is taking in other dairy it's fine. Next week we go to Florida, so I am sure we will nurse more...but I still plan on offering whole milk during the day. I love nursing, so if she wants it I am sure I won't say no!

Are you still on the Domperidone? As I was weaning Sam, I gradually cut out the domperidone, and it helped with the engorgement. I still made plenty of milk for nursing 2-3 times a day without it. Once I was totally off, my boobies adjusted to the reduced demand pretty quickly, and I had much less soreness. They just didn't know how to adjust when I was taking it.

Also, might it help to pump a little before and after work and let your body adjust to that before dropping all pumping? My body seemed to adjust better when Sam nursed less at a feeding for a few days before I dropped it completely. Just a thought.

BIG CONGRATS on not pumping at work any more!!!!!!! You've done such an AWESOME job, Rebecca!!!!

Thank you so much for the tips - I am still taking all of the pills but recently went down from taking them 2x a day to just 1x a day. I am just afraid if I stop taking them all together that my milk will diminish too much? Is that silly?

Thank you for the congrats I am pretty darn proud myself!
