Is this your first time BFing?: Yeppers
Nurslings Name(s) & Age(s): Teagan Tesla, 9 months and some change
How frequently does baby nurse?: Every 3-5 hours
Do you pump? How much?: I pump once while at work to get 6 oz
What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?: I nurse her to sleep around 7:30. She goes down in her crib in my room. When I go to bed around 10-11, she stirs and comes into bed with me. She nurses once or twice over night. They are really quick. She wakes up ready to go between 6-7.
Does baby take bottles?: She takes two 3 oz bottles at daycare.
Does baby eat solids?: She's pretty much on table food now. She doesn't eat much and still nurses like it's going out of style.
Does baby have teeth?: Yep, 8. She's working on her molars now. Joy. She got her first at 3 months
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?: I've always planned to let her decide when to wean. When I started I thought I'd let things take their own course after 1 year. Now I'm thinking I'll enforce nursing until 18 months.
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: Nursing was painful for the first 5 weeks and wasn't really comfortable until closer to 7 weeks. I had pretty substantial over supply for the first 4 months. I leaked EVERYWHERE, DD had explosive green poops, and I was engorged half the day. Block-feeding fixed it almost immediately. DD refused a bottle until she was nearly 6 months. I went back to work at 4 months. She pretty much waited for me to come home and made up for it at night. I had to throw away my 200 oz stash because it had gone rancid. Turns out my milk goes stanky if i don't scald it before storing it. Teeth were "fun" at first but they're no big deal now. Currently, nursing is like a wrestling match with an octopus. She nurses quietly in the morning and the evening but day time sessions last like a minute. She crawls all over me, races off to grab a book, nurses for 30 seconds, smacks me in the head with a block, nurses for a minute, repeat.
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?: It's really nice to have our quiet time in the evenings after work. She's super mobile now so it's great when she lands in my lap for a nurse. It's also really funny to watch the positions she gets herself into to get to the boob.
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?: Nursing used to be the magic sleeping agent. Not so much any more. I also miss nursing her in my ring sling. She was so tiny and it was so easy to walk around with her latched on. She's too stinking big and squirmy for that now.
Anything else you'd like to add?: DD fell asleep early because she's a little under the weather. My right boob hurts because she usually has one more big feed before bed. I'm debating attempting a dream feed but after the day she had I don't think I'm crazy enough to risk waking her up.
Nursing pic? (too much to ask?):
How about 2?!
Here we are at Mono Lake about a month ago. We stopped for nursey nursies while hiking around. She's too stinking big to nurse in my Mai Tai anymore so I had to take her out.

Stopped on the side of the road in Joshua Tree National Park during that same trip.

Is this your first time BFing?: yes
Nurslings Name(s) & Age(s): Aiden, 8 months
How frequently does baby nurse?: 3-4 hours around the clock
Do you pump? How much?: Not often. 3.5 oz in 5 minutes (one boob) when needed.
What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?: co-sleep. He was sleeping 5-7 hours, but we've been out of town for almost 2 weeks now and he's back to eating every 3-4 hours again.
Does baby take bottles?: Nope! He will take pumped BM out of a sippy cup.
Does baby eat solids?: yes
Does baby have teeth?: yes; 1
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?: 1 year. Still concentrating on that goal.
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: Mastitis when he was 3 weeks old. Had a 104º fever for 3 days. It was awful. I've only had one clogged duct since then that I was easily able to work out.
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?: How easy and convenient it is. I love not having to wash bottles or having to bring much junk with me when out of the house.
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?: Milk coma look! I rarely get those now.
Anything else you'd like to add?: Nursing in public has become a lot harder the older he's gotten. He's constantly on and off and doesn't like the cover. So it's like a great peep show. *sigh* However, he can baby sign "milk" now which has made nursing a lot easier since I KNOW he's hungry.

Is this your first time BFing?:yes
Nurslings Name(s) & Age(s):Ronin 9 months
How frequently does baby nurse?:anywhere from every 2-4or 5 hours
Do you pump? How much?:I try to pump three times a day at work, but often the nature of my job doesn't allow it. I aim for 5 oz at each session but it doesn't always happen.
What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?: Nighttime varies. Many nights we are on co sleep or no sleep.
Does baby take bottles?: Yup 2-3 a day. On average it's between 15 and 18oz for the full amount I send , though he doesn't always have that much
Does baby eat solids?:Yes, he loves them
Does baby have teeth?: Yup, 2 bottom, one to and one top about to break through
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?: When I was younger (like high school age)it was 6 months, then until bub had teeth, now it's a min of 1 year
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: biting, pumping enough at work, mobile baby who gets distracted easily
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?: The few times when he will still snuggle
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?:The snuggles and the ease of a non distracted baby, I used to be able to nurse while grocery shopping.

Name & Age: Carrie, 33
Is this your first time BFing?: Nope, I nursed my son for 20mo.
Nurslings Name(s) & Age(s): Katie, 14mo.
How frequently does baby nurse?: Usually 4-5x a day
Do you pump? How much?: not anymore. I pumped at work for a full year with both kiddos, and I'm so glad to be done!
What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?: DS didn't sleep through the night until he was 2 (even though we weaned before that), and DD isn't interested in STTN either. She will occasionally STTN if we've had a super long exhausting day - most nights she's up at least twice.
Does baby take bottles?: She did when she was in daycare, half my milk/half formula
Does baby eat solids?: Gosh yes. She will eat anything.
Does baby have teeth?: ten so far, working on two more.
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?: My goal with my son was 18mo, and we met that and exceeded it. With DD, 18mo is my goal again, and I see us meeting that with no problem.
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: I had a lot more problems with DS than with DD... well I guess just different problems. I learned that every baby is different! So don't assume that baby #2 will have the same struggles as #1 (or if #1 was a super nurser don't expect #2 to catch on as quickly)
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?: That I can calm her so quickly and easily. It fixes almost any problem. Smile
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?: Not being kicked, lol. Lol Katie loves to put her outside foot up on my shoulder when she's nursing in the cradle hold.
Anything else you'd like to add?: Ladies in the early days, hang in there - it gets better!
Nursing pic? (too much to ask?): Ya know, I don't even have any this time. At one point I had nursing pics of my son - but baby #2 gets a lot less pics taken Smile

Is this your first time BFing?: No - nursed my son for 7 months
Nurslings Name(s) & Age(s): Mady, 21 months
How frequently does baby nurse?: 2x/day during the week - usually a third time before naps on weekends
Do you pump? How much?: Done with the pump. Pumped for one year and then occasionally when I traveled for a few months after that. I've now given my pump to my SIL who is due any day!
What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?: Mady sleeps through the night in her own bed. I nurse her before bed as part of our nighttime ritual.
Does baby take bottles?: Up until one - she drinks out of a cup/sippy now.
Does baby eat solids?: Yes
Does baby have teeth?: Yes
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?: A year, then 18 months. We're still nursing, but I'd like to be done by the time she turns 2.
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: Nothing really - this time has been a lot easier than the first time - it makes a big difference when one of you knows what you are doing! Smile
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?: That it is something special that only we can do together.
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?: I agree with Carrie on this one - a less acrobatic baby. Nothing like having a foot in your face while you are nursing!
Anything else you'd like to add?: So rewarding! BUT, can be so hard in the beginning - don't give up - you can do it!!!
Nursing pic? (too much to ask?): I don't have any recent ones, but I found one from last fall.

Is this your first time BFing?: Yes
Nurslings Name(s) & Age(s): Jordan, 15 months
How frequently does baby nurse?: 3 times during the day and once at night
Do you pump? How much?: NO! Thank goodness. Wink
What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?: I nurse her in a rocking chair in her room. I am still working on getting her down to nursing only once at night. It used to be three times and I had to cut back to two b/c I was so tired. Now I feel comfortable getting her down to one nightly nursing session. I think she wakes more out of habit than anything.
Does baby take bottles?: Nope. She was never a fan so we gave up.
Does baby eat solids?: She is fed three meals a day but she's a bit picky!
Does baby have teeth?: She has 6 completely in. She has a new one that just popped out on the bottom and she is working on cutting a bottom molar as well.
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?: I said at least one year. Now I say to age two.
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: I had a lot of pain in the beginning due to blisters. I've mostly avoided clogged ducts (had 2 or 3 over 15 months). Now our only issue is the occasional biting.
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?: I feel like she is getting some much needed nutrients which is reassuring when she is picky with solids. I also like the bond we have b/c of nursing.
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?: How cuddly she was. She is busy now and does nursing aerobics much of the time, lol. But I do nurse her to sleep still so I do get that cuddly time at some point.
Anything else you'd like to add?: I am so much more passionate about breastfeeding now! I don't want to be pushy but I definitely want to help other nursing mothers and encourage them.
Nursing pic? (too much to ask?): I don't have one on this computer. I only have ONE!

I'm not currently nursing Sad But check in over here all the time so I thought I'd fill it out. Smile

Name & Age: Ann-Marie / 29
Is this your first time BFing?: Currently between babies 2 and 3. Smile
Nurslings Name(s) & Age(s): Fiona is 3.5 and she nursed 33 months..stopped last October. Rowynn is 16 months old and stopped around 13.5 months.
How frequently does baby nurse?:
Do you pump? How much?: I did with my first, 4 oz once a day. Was too busy with the second and she would never take a bottle. Wink
What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?: Didn't cosleep with the first, but she woke up a lot and nursed most nights. The second I had to cosleep to get any sleep since I had an older child that didn't nap. She didn't wake up as often or nurse as long.
Does baby take bottles?: DD1 yes, DD2, no
Does baby eat solids?: Both started at 5.5 months.
Does baby have teeth?: DD1 9 months, DD2, 4 months
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?: 1 year both times. Smile I really wanted to go to 18 months with DD2, but she was never as interested and I got pregnant right before she was a year. So I'm happy I made it to a year.
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: I nursed during my second pregnancy and tandem nursed for 7 months. Smile My second almost weaned when she was 11 months old and my DH was hospitalized for a week, but she picked it back up.
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?:
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?: The quiet and the stillness. Smile

Nurslings Name(s) & Age(s): Dalton, (3 days shy of) 1
How frequently does baby nurse?: 2-6 times per day
Do you pump? How much?: only occasionly
What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?: co-sleep, nurse most of the wee morning hours
Does baby take bottles?: yes
Does baby eat solids?: yes
Does baby have teeth?: yes
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?: my goal was one year! And now it is just to go as long as he is happy with
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: Oh Lord... lol we had em all! Breast augmentation, low supply, on meds (domperidone), on every herb known to man (off of those now!) and we have also supplemented this entire time.
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?: Just that calm quiet time that is only for us.
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?: How he would stay STILL long enough to get a meal. I loved watching him nurse... that sweet tiny face. He's kinda rowdy now!!
Anything else you'd like to add?: This was (is) the most rewarding journey I have ever been on!

Is this your first time BFing?: no, nursed DS1 until he was 19 months
Nurslings Name(s) & Age(s): Aaron, 5 months
How frequently does baby nurse?: about every 3 hours during the day, at night sometimes goes all night, sometimes wakes up once anywhere from 2-5 am
Do you pump? How much?: when I work 3 days a week I pump 2-3 times
What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?: he is in the pack n play in our room. i nurse him in bed in sidelying then put him back in his pack n play...sometimes i doze for a little while he eats and he doesn't go back in his bed until I wake up.
Does baby take bottles?: yes...even though at 8-9 weeks old, it seemed like he never would! he takes three to four 4 oz bottles while I work, depending on how long i am gone.
Does baby eat solids?: not yet. we plan to start at 6 months
Does baby have teeth?: not yet...but the lower gums are swollen and feels like something is trying to break through. he has been gnawing on everything including my boob sometimes...like pulling away with it still in his mouth...yeeeesh!
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?: i didn't really have a goal this time other than nurse him past a year as long as we want. with DS1 my goal was a year, and then we kept going and slowly phased out nursing sessions...I gently encouraged that the last nursing session to go away when it started making bedtime tougher. we will see how our nursing relationship goes this time with DS2.
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: not really any this time...DS1 gave me lots of troubles (rough start, tough time latching, then refusal to eat/arching during feedings due to reflux). I guess with DS2, getting him to take the bottle was our biggest challenge, which isn't that bad and it all worked out.
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?: I love when he looks at me and then sometimes unlatches to give a milky smile and/or babble at me. melts my heart. I also love that I have more confidence to nurse him wherever/whenever compared to with DS1.
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?: I missed when he was itty bitty and a) easier to hold and b) didn't pop off the boob to be nosy Lol
Anything else you'd like to add?: I wouldn't trade the hard work with learning how to BF DS1, the sleepless nights, the annoying hours hooked up to the pump while away, etc. for anything, since I love/loved nursing my little ones.
Nursing pic? (too much to ask?): taken just the other day

and I love this one b/c he always puts his hand up like this when sleepy...and i joke he is hiding from the paparazzi Lol

and this is from just a day or two old...so itty bitty

Is this your first time BFing?: Yes
Nurslings Name(s) & Age(s): Beni, 14 mos
How frequently does baby nurse?: A LOT- like 4-6 times a day, and 2-3 times at night
Do you pump? How much?: no, never have
What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?: we co-sleep, and she nurses a lot, though we're transitioning to her own bed in our room very slowly
Does baby take bottles?: no, never has
Does baby eat solids?: yes, but she still prefers nursing- or maybe at 14 mos she'll take either or
Does baby have teeth?: Yes, she has 6 in front (4 top, 2 bottom) and 4 molars at different stages of coming in and driving us all mad
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?: To nurse as long as she likes- that is what it always has been, and continues to be
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: I want to get pregnant, but haven't had a period yet, and I'm sure it's because she still nurses so frequently/co-sleeps...so I want this and that, and the two seem mutually exclusive, but I can't make myself quit one to get the other.
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?: I love the together time and the cuddles
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?: I miss that she used to lay so still and fall asleep nursing anywhere anytime. Now she still nurses to sleep at night, and at nap time, but we have to be in bed for that to work.
Anything else you'd like to add?: I love nursing, love helping others with nursing and am training to be an LLL leader! Smile
Nursing pic? (too much to ask?): I have one somewhere...

I have some I just took last week, but they are on my ipod, and I don't know how to get them on here...

My first DD nursed til almost 3. My DD2 is still nursing at 14 months. Once in the night sometimes, and about 4-5 times during the day. I love it! She's a very courteous nurser. Unlike DD1. lol.

My one challenge is that both DD's prefer my right breast VERY much. So much so that DD1 was weaned off lefty at 9 months and DD2 was weaned off lefty at 2 months. I'm lopsided because of it, but Righty makes plenty, so it's not a big deal to me.

Is this your first time BFing?: 2nd
Nurslings Name(s) & Age(s): Juliet is 7 months
How frequently does baby nurse?: 3-4 hours
Do you pump? How much?: I usually pump once in the morning with breakfast. I get 2-3oz after not nursing on that side all night.
What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?: Usually she sleeps in a playpen by my bed. On vacation right now, we co-sleep.
Does baby take bottles?: not often.
Does baby eat solids?: three meals a day
Does baby have teeth?: three with more about to come out.
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?: We will go as long as she wants.
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: none, she's been an excellent nurser from the start.
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?: Milk is always available, at the right temperature.
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?: She was easier to nip. Now, she keeps coming off to look at everything going on around.
Anything else you'd like to add?: DS was a challenge to nurse. He had a bad latch, and I had supply issues. I learned a lot about BF with him. We went 16 months. DD has been really easy to nurse, other than the occasional nip. Those little teeth are sharp.
Nursing pic? (too much to ask?): Maybe later. I got some somewhere.

Oh, fun thread!

Name & Age: Stephanie, 35
Is this your first time BFing?: No, but I didn't make it very far with my first - - EPed after about a month. So this is my first successful time!
Nurslings Name(s) & Age(s): Matteo, 22 months
How frequently does baby nurse?: Now just once, before bedtime.
Do you pump? How much?: Only if I don't nurse him, which is almost never.
What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?: He nurses, gets put in his crib and off to sleep for the night. I find he goes through phases - - like right now unfortunately - - where he fusses a bit after I leave. But generally he goes down without a peep after I leave, and sleeps around 11 hours give or take.
Does baby take bottles?: No, he never did.
Does baby eat solids?: Yep, eats pretty much everything we do!
Does baby have teeth?: A pretty full set!
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?: My goal was one year, so obviously that changed, lol. I didn't intend to go this long, but it has worked well for us. I don't know how much longer I will continue, but I am following his lead.
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: I've had Mastitis, but mostly I think because I had a fair bit of damage from my first (part of the reason I quit). It's been a challenge to decide whether/when to reduce the feedings, but in the end it always worked out better than I expected. It's a pain sometimes that nursing reduces my own freedom, but it's worth it.
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?: The comfort he gets from it. I also find it relaxing most of the time. I think the best part is that it makes him happy to go to bed, lol.
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?: I miss watching him nod off to dreamland. Usually he's still awake now. Sounds kinda funny, but I also miss the way he used to nurse with his little fists beside his face. So cute!
Anything else you'd like to add?: After my experience the first time around, it has amazed me how many people were right. People said it gets better, that the second would be easier, and they were so right. I'm glad I attempted nursing the second time.
Nursing pic? (too much to ask?): Sorry, I don't think I have one I can access.

What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: first 5 weeks were rough but it's been (pretty much) smooth sailing ever since
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?: the snuggles I get while nursing
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?: the passed out milk-coma baby. Will only falls asleep after nursing in the middle of the night

Is this your first time BFing?: Nope this is #2
Nurslings Name(s) & Age(s): Ethan who is 3 and weaned at 18 months, and Lola who is 17 months and still nursing
How frequently does baby nurse?: I would say about 4-5 times per day
Do you pump? How much?: Nope I quit pumping around 13 months
What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?: I nurse her to bed around 8:00pm and she almost always sleeps through the night until 8 or 9am. Last night she did wake at 2am to nurse.
Does baby take bottles?: not anymore
Does baby eat solids?: yes she LOVES food!!!
Does baby have teeth?: yes many
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?: My first goal is always 1 year with NO formula and then from there I just go with what baby says. My Son weaned at 18 months due to my milk drying up from being pregnant. I am currently 8 weeks pregnant but it seems I still have lots of milk. I will let my daughter decide when she is done.
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: Having to pump at work 3 days/week was not so much a challenge but was annoying. I was always worried about how much I was pumping and kind of obsessed about it daily even though I had plenty of milk in the freezer at all times.
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?: I love how happy it makes Lola! I also love that I ask her if she wants "milkies" and she nods her head yes and smiles Smile
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?: I loved holding a tiny baby and have them be totally nourished by me.

Nursing pic? (too much to ask?):
I don't really have any recent ones but I do have a couple oldies,

Is this your first time BFing?: Yes
Nurslings Name(s) & Age(s): Isabelle, 16months
How frequently does baby nurse?: morning and night during week, nap times, too, when I'm at home.
Do you pump? How much?: pumped at work til she turned one year. Had TONS of milk, never had to give formula, and was still using freezer stash at 14 months for daytime sippy cup
What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?: She sleeps 11-12 hours now in her crib in her room. She hasn't always STTN though. Coslept til about 6months.She is a lil' heater, so we got too hot about 6 months old
Does baby take bottles?: no. She used to form the babysitter wil about a year.
Does baby eat solids?: all table foods and purees
Does baby have teeth?: 8. no molars though
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?: 12 months, and obviously passed that. Now, will go to whenever. But, do want to TTC (not preventing now) in February, but periods are very irregular and sparse.
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: She was 2 months premature. She required a nipple shield for a month and that wasn't fun. Other than that, no problems at all. We had an easy BFing course. (we used all our bad luck at delivery!!!!!!)
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?: She can ask for it, and it's sweet. She says "na-na's".She still let sme cuddle with her, and will tickle her. She has to unlatch for a second to laugh.... it's so sweet.
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?: she would take a nap with me if she fell asleep nursing, no more though...
Anything else you'd like to add?: the best experience of my life. Wouldn't trade it for anything.
Nursing pic? (too much to ask?): just never took any; I wish i had.

Is this your first time BFing?: No, third
Nurslings Name(s) & Age(s): He is 13 months old
How frequently does baby nurse?: He nurses about 5 or 6 times a day, sleeps from 6:45pm -7 am with no nursing
Do you pump? How much?: I used to, a lot. I pumped for HMBNA last time, and directly for a local baby this time. I also keep a healthy stash for my own baby as I'm one of those Moms who enjoys some time away from my nurslings and likes to have the option to give them the occasional bottle.
What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?: No, we cosleep in the beginning and transition them once they are ready. This has been anywhere from 8 weeks to 5 months depending on the baby.
Does baby take bottles?: Not anymore.
Does baby eat solids?: Yes, we started at 6 months and go directly to real food, bypassing purees.
Does baby have teeth?: 6, 4 top two bottom
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?: My goal with every baby was to simply nurse as long as we are both enjoying it and benefitting from it.
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: None. I have had really easy nursing relationships, free of mastitis or thrush or pretty much anything (other than next pregnancies and the various joys that they entail to a nursing mother like toe curling nipple pain and nursing one baby while the other one kicks you! Lol
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?: I really enjoy being able to comfort him, and the quiet time alone with him first thing in the AM and before bed (the rest of the nursing sessions are more chaotic as my 3 and 4 year old are generally around)
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?: I don't actively miss anything. I love nursing little ones and I love nursing big ones.
Anything else you'd like to add?:

Nurslings Name(s) & Age(s): nursed son, JB, for 14 months; now nursing DP for 3 months
How frequently does baby nurse?: every 3-4 hours
Do you pump? How much?: Yes, once a day and get about 3-4 oz
What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?: we co-sleep, he nurses every 3-4 hours
Does baby take bottles?: yes, 1-2 times per day while I work
Does baby eat solids?: no, will probably start between 5-6 months
Does baby have teeth?: no
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?: Goal is 1 year
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: DP sometimes doesn’t like to stay latched on
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?: He looks at me
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?: was easier to hold because was smaller
Anything else you'd like to add?: I like that nursing makes my boobs larger, but they went back to their normal size after I weaned my older son Sad

Is this your first time BFing?: Nope, nursed DS for 10 months
Nurslings Name(s) & Age(s): Noel, 16 months
How frequently does baby nurse?: Up until a week or so ago, 1x a day in the morning but I think we are done now. Sad
Do you pump? How much?: Nope, hate pumping, only did it when absolutely necessary
What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?: Nope, I dropped her before-bed feeding a few months ago because I wanted to be able to have DH put her to bed if I was gone.
Does baby take bottles?: She would take them if she needed to but it was rare.
Does baby eat solids?: Yep
Does baby have teeth?: Yep including 3 molars
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?: My goal was 1 year and now that I've reached that it's just been until we feel like stopping. At this point, I don't feel like it's very beneficial to keep going. DD doesn't ask for it and life has gotten busier.
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: TONS! I had supply issues w/ both kids and had to supplement my son the entire time I nursed him. With this one, I got on domperidone early on and never had to supplement after 6 weeks.
I have had mastitis once with DS and clogged ducts several times with both kids. And in the beginning I always had cracked and bleeding nipples.
BUT I stuck it out and it was SO worth it!!
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?: That I can do it when *I* want to/when is most convenient for me and if it's not convenient, I don't do it. But that's because DD doesn't ever ask for it.
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?: Definitely the naps together and just the bonding time.
Anything else you'd like to add?: I have mixed feelings about stopping but think it's best for both of us and my hubby if I do.

Nurslings Name(s) & Age(s):Jacob/11 months (he's now 3); Ava/16 months
How frequently does baby nurse?:ALL the time!! probably 6x a day
Do you pump? How much?:I pumped at work until July (I'm a teacher so home for the summer now) I pumped once a day and got about 5oz from each side
What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?: I night weaned Ava the middle of July- she was NOT happy about it!! but now she almost sleeps through the night (sometimes wakes once for a pat and shh), she wakes between 5 and 6 for some mommy's milk and I give it to her because then I get up to exercise
Does baby take bottles?: it was a rough start with bottles/ daddy had to be shirtless for her to take one and it had to be a breastflow/ eventually she got it- now she drinks from a cup
Does baby eat solids?:like they are going out of style- started her at 6 months
Does baby have teeth?:12
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?:2 years- hasn't changed- when we get to 2 years I will let her lead the way
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?:Ava was always a great nurser- had some clogged ducts though. DS was a terrible nurser- awful latch/low muscle tone in his mouth- oi it was a journey!![/COLOR]
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?: that she's still doing it!!! I love how I can do other things while she is nursing
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?:holding a teeny tiny little baby
Anything else you'd like to add?:not really

Nurslings Name(s) & Age(s): Chandler/11 months, 3 weeks...eek!
How frequently does baby nurse?: 2-3 times/day
Do you pump? How much?: not really anymore
What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?: I nurse to sleep and he usually sttn
Does baby take bottles?: yep 2-3/day
Does baby eat solids?: he eats everything but babyfood
Does baby have teeth?: 6 (4 top and 2 bottom)
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?: My goal was 12 months EBF. We have had to supplement due to low supply, but we are almost at 1 year! I now plan to continue until he weans.
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: LOW SUPPLY; now we are dealing with biting..ouch!
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?: Nursing to sleep, that I can calm him down so easily when he's upset
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?: I guess the total dependence he had on me.
Anything else you'd like to add?: Don't give up!!!!!!
Nursing pic? (too much to ask?): Yeah, you don't really want this!

Is this your first time BFing?: No. Nursed dd for 14mo, ds for 18mo
Nurslings Name(s) & Age(s): Abram & Wyatt, 19mo
How frequently does baby nurse?: probably 4-6 times a day, trying to slowly cut back.
Do you pump? How much?: nope, tried a few times with the twins, and well, then they'd want to eat and I had nothing left, so gave that up real quick. Smile
What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?:
Does baby take bottles?: nope, never did, still working on getting them to love the sippy cups.
Does baby eat solids?: yup, everything we eat
Does baby have teeth?: yup, about 10 each
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?: Goal this time was 2yrs, and we'll make it. I would like them to be done then, but it is going to take some serious work on my part. Wink
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: mostly the challenges of tandem nursing twins. Wink We have got positioning down very well at this point, but I do miss that I have less snuggle time with each baby individually.
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?: That it is an easy comfort and gives me snuggle time with my busy toddlers.
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?: Just their sweet tiny faces and also falling asleep while nursing. Wink
Anything else you'd like to add?: I have loved being able to tell people that I am still nursing my twins, and the shock that I have been successful at it, esp because I had multiple people tell me I would not be able to do it. Wink (I'm fairly obstinate lol)
Nursing pic? (too much to ask?): Hmmm.... I really want some taken, but nursing twins is just not so discrete, I have some somewhere. lol

Is this your first time BFing?: Yes! Smile
Nurslings Name(s) & Age(s): Claire, almost 7 months
How frequently does baby nurse?: Every 3 hours during the day, Claire sometimes wakes up in the night to nurse.
Do you pump? How much?: During the school year, yes! (And as needed if DH & I go on a date {that's happened 1x, ha!} ) I produce at least 6oz each time I pump. I had such a huge freezer stash that I became a milk donor.
What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?: I nurse Claire to sleep. I'll nurse her again before I go to bed, just to top her off. Wink Then maybe nurse her 1x in the night. We rarely co-sleep, but do as needed.
Does baby take bottles?: Yes, Claire takes bottles during the school year while I'm teaching and she's at daycare.
Does baby eat solids?: Yes! Just started last month! She LOVES food!
Does baby have teeth?: No yet!
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?: I set little (easily obtainable) goals at first. 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months. I'm hoping to BF for at least a year!
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: Umm... None. Claire came out with a great latch and has been nursing wonderfully ever since.
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?: I love how it's our time together. I love how she looks up at me with a milky smile, then she'll go back to eating. So sweet!
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?: I miss how still and relaxed she was. Claire is getting much more active! She'll unlatch, look around, play, then go back to nursing... That cycle is repetitive!
Anything else you'd like to add?: I LOVE LOVE LOVE breastfeeding. I plan on breastfeeding all our babies. Biggrin

Nurslings Name(s) & Age(s): Ben 3 1/2 months
How frequently does baby nurse?: every 3-4 hours
Do you pump? How much?: Just ordered a pump to have a break in the future.
What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?: Ben was nursing 5-6 hours until 2 weeks ago now we're back to every 3.
Does baby take bottles?: No
Does baby eat solids?: No
Does baby have teeth?: No but definitely teething
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?: 1 year or more, nope
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: Mild thrush and mastitis twice. Now it's finding a quiet place to avoid distraction. Hard to do with a 3 year old in the house.I bought a nursing necklace so we'll see how that goes.
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?: Providing, nurturing and bond.
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?: Nursing without being distracted.
Anything else you'd like to add?: I never knew my children would eat so differently. Grace was a slow gentle eater about 40 minutes and always fell asleep after. Ben is a quick eater about 15-20 minutes and likes to play while eating.
Nursing pic? (too much to ask?): Ben 3 days old.

Is this your first time BFing?: No, nursed DD1 until 18 months
Nurslings Name(s) & Age(s): A., 10 months
How frequently does baby nurse?: Probably 5-8 times per day
Do you pump? How much?: Depends on how long I'm away from her. Once or twice a day.
What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?: She starts out in her crib and comes in to co-sleep with us once she wakes to eat
Does baby take bottles?: Yes, EBM
Does baby eat solids?: Yes, purees and bits of table food
Does baby have teeth?: Yes, 2 on the bottom and 2 on the top are poking through
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?: I will absolutely nurse to a year. Will encourage BFing until 18 months. After that is up to her. If we make it to age 2, I'll reevaluate then.
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: In the beginning, shallow latch, soreness, cracks, and mastitis. Nursing hurt for a good 5-6 weeks. I had to pump one side while she nursed the other round the clock for an entire week when she was about 2 weeks old to allow a severe crack to heal. Ouch!
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?: Snuggle time Smile
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?: The milk coma look and just having my tiny baby cuddled up to me all the time.
Anything else you'd like to add?: I absolutely adore nursing. I wish my friends that struggle with nursing would ask me for help, because I think I could help them. But I'm not the type to just butt in with unasked-for advice. If I could go back in time, I think I would have gone to school to do something related to childbirth or be a lactation consultant.

What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?: He nurses, I sleep Smile It's a self serve buffet all night long. Yes we cosleep.
Does baby take bottles?: no
Does baby eat solids?: yes
Does baby have teeth?: yes
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?: I don't make goals when it comes to nursing.... no point for me. I've already nursed 4 other kids... if a need develops to make a goal, then I'll make one. Until then... we just go with the flow Smile
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: hmm... well, this time round, we've faced a few bouts of mastitis... that's about it.
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?: I love when the baby latches on, and no matter what's going on, everything in his world becomes right again.
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?: him staying still
Anything else you'd like to add?: Enjoy it while it lasts ladies... cause they grow way TOO fast.

Is this your first time BFing?: no, but only breastfeed my daughter for only a week due to latch problems and pumped for about 3 months
Nurslings Name(s) & Age(s):Ty- 23 months old
How frequently does baby nurse?: about 3 times a day
Do you pump? How much?: no pumping unless I am away from him more than a day
What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?: I nurse him to sleep and when he wakes up but he is in his crib.
Does baby take bottles?: never has had one
Does baby eat solids?: yes just about everything now
Does baby have teeth?: yes, lots of them I need to count them, he he
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?: my goal was to take it month by month since I wasn't successful with my daughter but my main goal was 1 year and now I am almost to my 2 year goal!
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: None! I have been soo blessed to have had no issues and that is one of the main reasons I have been soo successful the second time around!
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?: I just love the bond we have and how much he enjoys nursing and he usually falls asleep after he nurses.
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?: I try to enjoy every age but he was soo chubby as a baby and now he has really slimed out.
Anything else you'd like to add?: I just want to give people hope that you can be succesful breastfeeding! Even if you had problems breastfeeding with previous children doesn't mean you can't be successful now. Surround yourself with supportive people and get all the help you need from people who know a lot about breastfeeding Smile If I could be successful, anyone can Smile

Is this your first time BFing?: Yes
Nurslings Name(s) & Age(s): Alaina Claire and Aiden James - 7 months
How frequently does baby nurse?: Generally 6x a day, and lately once at night.
Do you pump? How much?: I work some Saturdays, so I pump when I work 3x. Once when I wake up before getting ready. Once at lunch. Then again when I get home. I expect to get right at 12 oz each time.
What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?: They both have their own crib now in the nursery. (We moved them out of the pack and play in our room 2 months ago.) I will nurse them right before bed. Sometimes they fall asleep, sometimes not. For the longest they both STTN, but the past 2.5 weeks they have both been waking up at least once. When only one wakes up, I'll bring him/her to bed to nurse. After falling asleep and me waking back up LO is put back in bed.
Does baby take bottles?: Yes-- when I'm at work. Only EBM. We have never had to supplement with formula.
Does baby eat solids?: Yes. We started them at 5.5 months. Aiden can't get enough and Alaina eats anything we give her.
Does baby have teeth?: Not yet.
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?: My goal has always been to make it to at least one year. After that we will play it by ear.
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: They were born 5 weeks early. Their mouths were too small for a good latch so we started out with nipple shields.... I tried to wean Alaina off of it several times with no success and gave up. I had a wild hair around 5 months and tried again. SUCCESS! We have been shield free for two months. It's been great. On top of that I have to say that the first 5 months were a challenge bf twins. I'd have good days and bad days where I felt like all I did was sit for them to eat. I think that they eat more quickly without the shields, making for happier parties all around.
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?: On the selfish side---The fact that not every nursing session is 45 min. On the sweet side--- When they look up at me and smile. Smile
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?: I mostly miss how small they were. I could sit on the sofa with them both asleep on the nursing pillow and catch a few winks myself. Now I have to be on guard so they don't roll off. Smile
Anything else you'd like to add?: Anything is possible if you set your mind to it. There were several times I thought of switching to EPing. I am so glad that I stuck with it. It does get easier.... eventually. Smile

Is this your first time BFing?: Nope, 2nd
Nurslings Name(s) & Age(s): Korben, 10 months
How frequently does baby nurse?: 4 times a day - on waking in the morning, about 11am, before bed and once in the night.
Do you pump? How much?: Nope, could not be bothered this time.
What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?: He sleeps in his cot in his room and usually has one feed between 10pm-1am
Does baby take bottles?: Yeah, he has one bottle feed of formula a day cause we're phasing out his daytime boob.
Does baby eat solids?: Yup. He eats pretty much what we eat.
Does baby have teeth?: 5 and one more on the way
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?: I wanted to get to a year and i'm still on track for that. Thought i might do daytime feeds right up to one year this time, but i feel ready to switch to bottles in the day instead, so i am doing it. Slowly.
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: The first days were hard wth both babies as they were lazy feeders and had to be topped up wih formula in hospital. Much easier this second time though as i knew what to look for and asked for a top up right away.
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?: The bond and the rush of nice hormones i still get now and again from feeding.
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?: How much gentler he was! lol! He's not exactly rough now, but he does teeth on me occasionally and won't sit still for long. There' a lot of pulling off, looking about, going back on, pulling off etc etc. now.
Anything else you'd like to add?: Breastfeeding has been one of the most wonderful experiences of my life. Without exagerration.
Nursing pic? (too much to ask?): I don't have many from nursing Korben. I should take one really.

Is this your first time BFing?: Nope, BF my DS for 15 mo.
Nurslings Name(s) & Age(s): Evelyn, 4 months
How frequently does baby nurse?: 8-10x day
Do you pump? How much?: Nope, she doesn't like bottles
What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?: She sleeps in her own bed til she wakes around 5 or 6 for the morning feed. Then I fall asleep with her, so she winds up sleeping by me for the morning.
Does baby take bottles?: Nope. Hates them.
Does baby eat solids?: She licks them... Wink
Does baby have teeth?: Nope.
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?: one year, or til she calls it quits, whichever comes last.
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: Oversupply, and my milk doesn't store well.
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?: Staring into her eyes while she grabs my finger and nurses.
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?: Nothing. Smile We're at the stage where it's finally great, I'm not spraying her in the eyes, she stays latched well, and my supply is starting to even out (finally!).
Anything else you'd like to add?: Work is super cool about it. I live very close and instead of pumping, my principal said it was fine to just pop home and nurse her rather than pump! Smile In reality, it'll probably take less time to do that than to pump anyhow.
Nursing pic? (too much to ask?): Just got a new computer and the pics aren't transferred over yet. sorry!

Is this your first time BFing?: Nope, BF DS1 for 6 months
Nurslings Name(s) & Age(s): Max 2 1/2 weeks
How frequently does baby nurse?: Every 2 hours
Do you pump? How much?: Just started pumping today
What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?: No. He is in a Rock n Play Sleeper on my side of the bed
Does baby take bottles?: Yes
Does baby eat solids?: No
Does baby have teeth?: No
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?: Small goals. let's try 3 months first.
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: He has a slight tongue tie
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?: The snuggling and noises he makes
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?: Well, he's only 2 1/2 weeks.
Anything else you'd like to add?: Nursing the 2nd time around has been so much easier!

Is this your first time BFing?: Yup
Nurslings Name(s) & Age(s): Emma, 1 year!
How frequently does baby nurse?: On demand, but the frequency depends on the day. When we're out and about, maybe 5-6 times a day. When we're just relaxing around the house, it's constant.
Do you pump? How much?: Not much anymore unless we're going out for date night or I need to have pumped milk ready for her. Then I just pump as often as she'll eat.
What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?: Stopped co sleeping at 7/8 months when we moved her to her crib, but many nights she ends up in bed with me after DH goes to work at 3 am. She fights sleep a lot and wakes up constantly to nurse. Working on getting her back to sleeping at least 5 hours before waking up to nurse (and going back down for another couple hours). Hoping to see some progress soon!!!
Does baby take bottles?: Only if she has to and she's really hungry. She doesn't like them much these days.
Does baby eat solids?: So long as she's not teething hard she eats pretty well if we're eating with her and sharing food.
Does baby have teeth?: Tons! I'd say at least 11 including her molars.
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?: My goal was a year. Now it's two or as long as she wants. My only concern is if we are able to TTC and conceive in January that I may have to stop close to the due date as I have a preterm labor history, but I'm not worrying about that until we get to that stage.
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: She had problems latching and staying on in the firstweek or so of life being born at 36 weeks but we quickly got her nursing full time thanks to the shield (she didn't give that up until 9.5 months old), a great LC and BF support group. Sleep depravation. Getting her to sleep 5/6 hours plus for a couple of weeks and then back to waking up every 1.5-2 hours to nurse and being awful at napping. That's been the hardest.
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?: The bonding and how soothing it is to her. The convenience is nice too.
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?: Her passing out milk-drunk for hours!
Anything else you'd like to add?: I love our BFing relationship and am so proud that my premie peanut has thrived so well!
Nursing pic? (too much to ask?): Will post when DD isn't trying to type too!

Is this your first time BFing?: Second time nursing but I didn't nurse DS#1 long (6 weeks)
Nurslings Name(s) & Age(s): Alex, 5 weeks and 2 days
How frequently does baby nurse?: Every few hours during the day and every hour from about 1 a.m. to 7 a.m. for short periods of time.
Do you pump? How much?: EBF
What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?: We cluster feed and he fusses from about 6-7 p.m. which is getting better everyday. We do bed share, just us and sometimes, his big brother, too. His big sister doesn't like to bed share, lol, she loves her own space. Smile
Does baby take bottles?: EBF, never had a bottle (I am very proud of this!). Smile
Does baby eat solids?: No solids.
Does baby have teeth?: No teeth.
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?: My goal is for him to self wean and for me to EBF for as long as possible, no bottles at all if I can help it-- pumping was my down fall with DS#1. Sad
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: Currently facing my first plugged duct.
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?: The bonding. I absolutely get seperation anxiety from my baby-- if he hasn't nursed in awhile, I start missing him!
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?:
Anything else you'd like to add?: So thankful things are going so well!!! Great latch, great supply, and the oppurtunity to stay home and EBF.
Nursing pic? (too much to ask?):
This is Alex nursing at a few weeks old... I am VERY tired but love this pic. DH took it and said I looked like a mama cat with all my kitties around me. Smile

Nurslings Name(s) & Age(s): Cassandra, 10 days
How frequently does baby nurse?: anywhere from every hour to every 3-4 hours
Do you pump? How much?: no, not yet
What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?: not bad, actually, she's been doing well!
Does baby take bottles?: havent tried yet
Does baby eat solids?: no
Does baby have teeth?: no
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?: to make it at least 6 months and preferably a year and beyond (Im working this time, last time I was a SAHM)
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: I will be going back to work when she is 7 weeks old. Im nervous about it, as I was a dismal failure at pumping last time.
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?: she is so little!
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?: um...nothing yet!
Anything else you'd like to add?: she was tongue-tied, so we're working on fixing her latch since the frenotomy
Nursing pic? (too much to ask?): not yet.

Is this your first time BFing?: Nope, nursed DS2 until he was 4
Nurslings Name(s) & Age(s): Xander, 20 months
How frequently does baby nurse?: On demand so it varies
Do you pump? How much?: Nope, I hate pumping. If I have to express, I usually just hand express
What is nighttime like? Do you co-sleep?: Nighttime WAS good- he was STTN but I think he's cutting his second molars so he's waking a lot again. We d cosleep probably 99% of the time Smile
Does baby take bottles?: Neither Logan nor Xander cared fr bottles (or binkies)
Does baby eat solids?: He will eat ANYTHING especially if it has rice it in and/or if mommy is trying to eat it...he's a mooch
Does baby have teeth?: he has everything up to his 1st molars and I think the 2nd molars are coming in but haven't broken through yet
What was your goal when you started? Has it changed?: With Xander, my goal is 2. With Logan, my goal was initially until he got teeth- then he teethed at 4 months and I learned that when properly latched, they can't bite you so it changed to 6 months and then a year and then 2 years with a mini goal of 18 months (to make it seem less intimidating). Since I went for 4 years, I will be very disappointed if Xander doesn't nurse until 2.
What challenges have you faced/are you facing?: Heh, which ones? I'm grateful that it wasn't worse but over the past 5 years, I've had mastitis twice- the first time was right after having to deal with the swine flu WHILE pregnant with Xander and nursing Logan, I've had clogged ducts, overactive letdown, oversupply which resulted in a gagging baby. I had flat nipples (yay for IV fluids ) after Logan's birth so we ended up using a shield. I feel stupid complaining that I have too much milk btw which is why I'm grateful that it's not worse problems that I have. I'd donate if I felt like I had time to pump Sad
What's your favorite thing about nursing now?:I love when he is all lovey dovey while nursing
What do you miss about nursing when your baby was younger?: He was nicer- I seriously have scratch marks all over my boobs because he pinches. He has this crazy notion that he needs to scratch at my other boob or pinch my other nipple while he's nursing. I have yet to find a successful method to break him of this.
Anything else you'd like to add?: Oddly, while the milk-coma look used to be awesome to me, it scares the crap out of me now since that's how Logan's first febrile seizure started. He was nursing and I THOUGHT he was drifting off to sleep with that glazed over, eyes rolling back, milk comatosed look...until he started shaking and turning blue Sad So now, that's in the back of my mind every time I see it in Xander. I try not to be like that but it's forever etched in my brain Sad
Nursing pic? (too much to ask?): I will add one when my phone stops hating me

I was actually just telling DH this the other day- when I'm stressed out and Xander is crabby, the minute he latches on, everything stops and we both calm down. Nothing else matters at that moment Smile

Anything else you'd like to add?: Work is super cool about it. I live very close and instead of pumping, my principal said it was fine to just pop home and nurse her rather than pump! Smile In reality, it'll probably take less time to do that than to pump anyhow.

So cool!
