i got my pump n style today and was so curious i had to try it. nothing came out obviously, but i tried it for a minute or two. WHAT A WEIRD FEELING!!!!!!!!!!!!! is pumping what what nursing feels like??? i thought it felt really creepy. i definitely didn't care for it. i guess you get used to it though.
Baby #3 due July 6 2013
LOL... I remember doing that before DS1! Actually, no, it doesn't feel too similar to me. Pumping is more... vigorous. More artificial. More rubbing and irritating sometimes. BFing feels more natural.

I agree. I enjoy bf. I dislike pumping. Bf is a wierd feeling too tho.
Meagan, so very happy Matthias gained that much, yay for you too!!! Perfect Mamma milk
Carolyn, the pump is definitely a whole different feeling, BF becomes so natural you don't feel it really after a while...just wish my letdown just tingled instead of being so sore!
Well I had the doc look Aaron's mouth over (poor thing gagged with the prodding) but there's nothing sinister going on with the palet so he's put it down to his immature digestive system at the moment...he's too good a baby to diagnose a reflux problem apparently (he doesn't scream from pain though he does spit up a tiny bit which mainly comes through his nose too)...my doc even said don't be alarmed if milk came out of his eyes as it's all connected!! Now that would freak me out!! He's gaining weight just fine and he's grown so much in length (at this stage it's been 1cm a week) and he sleeps a 5 hour stretch after 11pm and feeds and goes back to sleep until 7-8am so I can't complain!
Yay Meagan!!!! That is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Michelle- glad all is ok with Aaron. Milk out the eyes would really freak me out too!!

Just wait til it's snot out the eyes. It's gross but does happen.
Yeah Milk out of the eyes would freak me out too! It came out of Luke's nose on occasion, but he had bad reflux so I wasn't surprised. Glad everything checks out OK!
And yes Carolyn, a pump feels quite different from a baby...much more abrasive and artificial for lack of a better word. A baby is much gentler and it feels perfectly natural after you get over that first hump where you and baby are both getting the hang of things.
Speaking of things coming out of places- slightly off topic...Beni did a little spit up today while she was on the changing table, and it really caught my attention because it was really dark colored. I looked closer, and it was snot- like a loogey (sp?). Poor little thing. I've been trying to suck her nose with the bulb thing, but, I'm not getting much out- and apparently she's swallowing it.

Poor Benita! Mara have you tried doing a humidifier?

That's strange Mara, maybe a humidifier. KUP.
Carolyn, Miles kind of feels like my pump on the lowest setting. lol. This boy has one strong latch and suck. I heard several comments on it the hospital. But nursing definitely feels much more natural.
