I've had a humidifier on 3 nights in a row. Yesterday, we took a shower together and that seemed to clear her up a bit. She's been better since then.

Showers together are great! I did a lot of those with Adam. As long as she is not acting sick, feverish, or uncomfortable, just keep an eye on it and mention it to the ped at your next visit.

    Konica-
    Are you feeding on demand?
Are you drinking a TON of water?
Eating/consuming any supply boosters (oatmeal, fenugreek, nursing tea)?

I would try not to freak out just yet- from everything that I have read and heard from successful longtime nursers I get the impression that when it comes to nursing, unless your child is seriously facing failure to thrive, you just need to KEEP GOING. Keep nursing, keep yourself hydrated, and just try not to freak.

Seriously, at my LLL meeting (have one in your area? GO! Take Alix with you- my meeting is full of older kids that just play while us moms talk) last Wednesday we did "common nursing problems" and we all got situation cards that had a short little scenarios on it. I have to say that pretty much the answer to every situation was to just keep going, get help if you need it, and whatever you do, DON'T SUPPLEMENT. Giving your baby anything other than breast will just make the situation worse. And I'm not saying this just to be anti-formula - I'm saying it because this is what a big group of highly successful nursing mothers say.

Also, I have already noticed that my supply seems to be evening out- I am only slightly engorged in the mornings, and once Beni feeds my boobs are pretty soft for the rest of the day. But, she's peeing and pooping just fine and even though my boobs don't seem to be full, they still leak now and then during nursing, so... maybe your supply isn't so much drying up and just evening out. If you're not making enough for Nic, you just need him to nurse more for your body to get the message to make more again.

I agree with Mara, keep doing what you are doing. My milk has evened out also and I am not engorged and barely leaking anymore either. I can't hand express normally and my pumping output is crap as well. However Matt is peeing and pooping fine so I know he is fine. Also really watch your water intake. I thought I was drinking enough and then really watched it today and realized I was not drinking as much as I thought. Also having a second it has been much harder to be feeding on demand, but I have really had to make it a priority and that has helped as well.

Konica my milk supply has really evened out too. The ginormoboobs are gone (thank goodness!!) and I don't feel super full all the time anymore. I still leak, but I'm a leaker when I nurse--I leaked the entire 14 months I nursed Luke.

Can you hear Nic swallowing when he nurses? Is he having wet and dirty diapers? Can you feel your let-down when he starts nursing? If those things are happening then I'm sure your milk is there, just evened out from the initial over-production most moms experience.

If he is fussing during feedings he might be experiencing reflux. Does he arch his back? Cough or gag? We had that issue with Luke so I'm well versed with acid reflux...

Oh yeah and with Matt I try to keep him up a bit while nursing him so he is not flat on his back. I also added a pumping session in the morning to make my boobs think I need more, part to prepare for work in a few weeks but part to just make more.

thank you gals so much. i am more relaxed about it this morning. last night was a bad night!! but to ansewr questions.

    mara
Are you feeding on demand? yes... as much as i can with a 2 year old. some times nic gets put on hold but for no more than 5 minutes.

Are you drinking a TON of water? i had not really thought about it but now as i think about it i am not drinking much. i guess it just slipped my mind.

Eating/consuming any supply boosters (oatmeal, fenugreek, nursing tea)? no i had been doing so well that i havent felt the need till last night

    megan

Can you hear Nic swallowing when he nurses? when he first starts nursing i can here it but the sound lasts only a minute.
Is he having wet and dirty diapers? the last few days he has had only 1 dirty per day but lots of wet (5-7) durring the day
Can you feel your let-down when he starts nursing? i have never been able to feel let down.

Does he arch his back? he dose arch his back away from my boob... he loves the Football" hold to where he is almost sitting upright so when he arches his back he ends up laying down
Cough or gag? he will cough like he swallowed wrong and it " went down the wrong tube" is this what you mean?

Hang in there Konica. I agree with Mara - drink lots and keep nursing! I got to nurse in public 3 times yesterday and I wasn't near as anxious as I was the first time. lol. I had to pump when I woke up this morning because I was soaked! I'm pumping about 3 times a day to build a freezer supply for when I go back to work. I usually wait till he's done nursing and I'm still getting 6 ounces

I am drinking all my water out of a container that I know is 24 ounces. So now my goal is to fill it 5 times a day and drink it all. It has made a HUGE difference in my supply.
