Hey Jordan- I'm so sorry you've been having such issues! Beni is a biter too- she has drawn blood a number of times. Every time she does it lately, I just put the boob away immediately. She'll go a few days without doing it, but then she does it again, and again, and again. It isn't easy.
I know the decision to giev Fi formula couldn't have been an easy one for you- so I'm sorry you're still fretting over her health. I hope she gains a bit for you, and you can stop worrying so much.
We're still doing well. Beni is nursing more than ever now that she's sleeping better at night and not nursing all night. So, we just keep on truckin!

Jordan-I'm sorry you're dealing with an infection and hope it heals quickly! I haven't had the pleasure of being bitten yet, but I feel like I'm always waiting for it, now that Alyse has both her 2 bottom and 2 top. Maybe I'll get lucky.
We are still going strong...I never thought in a million years I'd still be nursing at almost 10 months! At this point, we'll go to a year and then start the transition to whole milk. I'd by lying if I said I wasn't excited about the possibility of being done soon, but I know there are things about it that I will miss terribly.
Alyse nurses 4-5 times a day and nurses for about 5-10 minutes each time and then sleeps from 7pm-6am. No complaints from me
Jordan, I hope the infection clears soon and that she never does that again. Sean bit me hard once and drew blood. It was very hard feeding him out of such a sore boob after that, but I just kept on doing it, and it healed eventually. I hope that Fiona starts gaining some more weight for you. I know her petite-ness has been on your heart.
Eve hasn't chomped on me, but she does clamp down a bit. I tell her, "If you bite mommy, no more booby," and then I take it away. She laughs at me every time, so I don't know if the message is sinking in or not. Other than that, things are going well over here. Still pumping at work, still nursing at home. When I go to nurse her during my lunch break, she's been nursing less and playing more. I guess she'll be ready for me to not come and nurse her when she's moved up to the toddler 1 room. This makes me kinda sad, but, at the same time, I'll have time to go exercise.

One of the things I love the most about nursing is watching Alyse while she's drinking and the cute things she does. Right now 2 things are just melting my heart...1) she plays with her hair while she nurses...doesn't matter if its morning or night, she runs her fingers the length of her hair on top or she twirls her ponytail 2) You know how you blow on their bellies and make farting noises? Well, Alyse will do that on my boob when she's done. It cracks me up! She thinks she's the funniest!
Do your little ones do any cute things while they're nursing?
It is hard for me to believe I have been EBFing Nico for over 9 months now! It is going great, but I am looking forward to being done and getting him weaned. I have a feeling it may be hard - he has never taken a bottle and still nurses a number of times during the night. We will have to see how it all plays out.
The cutest thing about nursing him is that he knows the sign for milk and gets SO HAPPY when I ask him if he wants milk when he signs.
Oh goodness Jordan, OUCH! I'm sorry about the infection, that sounds miserable. Is it any better now?
We're going strong here as well--still nursing every 2-4 hours around the clock, probably b/c he doesn't eat too much in the way of solids yet. I'm fine with that though!
I remember since nursing was so tough with Luke, I was feeling ready for him to wean around one year (he self-weaned around 14 months; he was never in love with nursing to begin with). This time though, I'm not ready to stop at all, and neither is Jake, so it works out well. We've had a great nursing relationship, I love love love the cuddles, and he's our last baby so I'm just relishing every moment!
Sometimes he'll be nursing, unlatch, just look up at me with a big cheesy smile, and go back to nursing. It's so cute. He'll also sometimes stop sucking and blow raspberries, and milk splatters out around the corners of his mouth lol. He's a cutie.
Glad to hear everyone's doing so well!!
Beni always nurses just before she is going to go down for a nap or the night...I love that often as soon as she latches on, she kind of rolls her eyes around and they get all sleepy- like, in one moment she is expressing having found nirvana and simultaneously nearly falling asleep. It is so cute. She just seems to enjoy it 150%, and shows it- and that is awesome.
Also, this might sound kind of weird, but... when my great-aunt (whom Beni was named after) was in her last days- I saw her about a month before she died- she was very weak and fraile. She had gotten very skinny and when I visited her, was bed bound. She laid in bed with her head kind of turned up- I actually think she was in a lot of pain, sadly- she was only half lucid- so she laid there with her head kind of stuck up at a weird angle to her body, with her neck extended. She looked a little like a baby bird, trying to reach out to be fed. Well, when Beni falls asleep, she unlatches and kind of throws her head back at a similar angle...her neck outstretched. Anyway... every time she does it, she reminds me so much of my great-aunt...she just looks just like her in a way that melts my heart (it's a good likeness, not like Beni looks old and like she's dying). Even though, for the last 7 years I lived abroad, I never saw my aunt more than twice a year, if that, I miss her so much, now that she is gone. It breaks my heart that Beni will never get to know her. But I look forward to telling Beni the stories of her great great aunt, the woman she was named after. So, there you go...sorry for that long sad story, but, that is what goes through my head while Beni nurses these days.
Also, she has started knowing that she has to lift my shirt up to get what she wants. The shirt I sleep in is a deep v-neck and she knows she just has to pull that to the side to get boob, and other shirts, she tries to lift up. I know this is one of those things that is cute right now, but will be less so, when she is more able to pull my shirt up and does it in public.
Oh, and the other morning (I think it was Saturday) when Beni came back to bed with me after having been up with DH for a while, I let her nurse in bed. Well, we both fell asleep, but when I woke up, she was still sleeping, but, my boob was still hanging out of my shirt and she was fondling (using that word as a description of an action, obviously, without any sexual connections) my nipple in her sleep. It was actually really funny. Like she had rolled away, but, just couldn't bear to let go.

I didn't realize that this thread was active again! Jordan ~ Hugs, Mama. YOu are trusting your gut, and that is all that matters! How is the bite, better?
We are still going strong over here, smalls nurses about every 2-3 hours during the day, but sleeps 12-13 hours straight at night. He has a bit of a stuffy nose right now, which causes him to do that suck suck GASP thing as he is having a hard time breathing through his nose. So sad, yet cute at the same time. Isn't it amazing how they know what they need to do to get food into their bodies? I have two trips coming up so my new goal is to get J taking a bottle again......with it being winter and me not playing golf and him going to bed so early at night, I haven't given him a bottle in months.....and now he won't take one Would not be a big deal but we have a 5 day trip coming up in April and obviously I need him to be taking bottles by then. Anyone have any advice for reintroducing bottles to an older baby?
He has his 9 month appt today so that will be entertaining.
