    Default Breastfeeding while Pregnant Q

I am still nursing my now 1 year old (turned 1 yesterday!!) and I want him to self wean. However, recently I also found out I am expecting, and I have noticed a dip in my supply. Is there anything I can do to up my supply other than nursing on demand (which we do)? I want him to wean when he's ready, not because I'm not producing enough.

    Thanks!!

I just kept nursing as much as my son wanted. I don't know of anything to stop the supply change. I was back to nothing but colostrum by the 2nd tri. My son still nurses, but takes breaks here and there (one was as long as 3 weeks).

My first weaned at 13m when I was 9 weeks pregnant. He just started refusing when I offered milk. DS2 also weaned when I was 9 weeks pregnant. He was 13.5m. He also seemed completely happy with the situation.
This past summer DS3 almost weaned when I was 8-9 weeks pregnant (he was 15m). Unfortunately, that pregnancy ended just past 9 weeks. Then his nursing increased again. Now here I am 10.5 weeks pregnant and he's still nursing and shows no interest in giving it up, much to my surprise.
Clearly, there's something which happens to my supply at 8-9 weeks. I was sad when DS1 weaned. I wanted to nurse through my pregnancy and tandem nurse, but he was done. I'm sure he weaned earlier than he would have if I hadn't gotten pregnant, but I still feel like it was his decision. I certainly wasn't discouraging him. I tried several times after he made it clear he was done and all he did was giggle, bite me, and push me away.

I don't know of any way to increase supply while pregnant, but I hope you find one.

    Thanks
The nurse I spoke with today said I could drink the Mother's Milk Tea. I wasn't sure if I could drink that while pregnant (I had read not to take herbs while pregnant).

I love nursing my son and he really loves nursing (he refuses any kind of other milk unless it's in cheese or yogurt). So that makes me happy that maybe it won't change. He's such a happy nurser.

    How has it been going?
I feel like now I'm in the 2nd tri my milk is actually increasing a little again. Maybe the m/s, not the hormones, led to the dip in supply for me.

I feel like I'm not producing enough for him He's been drinking water out of a cup a lot more (He won't drink anything other than very very watered down juice or water out of a cup, not even pumped BM). I'm 10 weeks on Tuesday (unless they change my EDD when I go in for my u/s) so hopefully my supply will increase again. I just know he seems to get frustrated that he's nursing but doesn't seem satisfied.

He does still love the boob though!

You can try all the normal increase supply tricks like oatmeal and drinking a ton of water.

I'm glad your DS is still nursing even if it's not satisfying him. Some BM is better than none!
