New to this board, not to breast feeding

Hi. My name is Kier. I had my 4th 6 days ago. I have nursed all 4 of my kids now. My first for 13 months, my 2nd for 10 months (had to stop because I got pregnant with my 3rd) then nursed my 3rd for a year.

My milk came in pretty quick and it is going well. My son was admitted to the hospital yesterday for an infection in his eye and put on iv antibiotics as well as an ointment in his eye. My oldest had something similar and ended up with a bad case of thrush... which I then got in my nipples... after having the antibiotics. I am looking to do something to prevent that from happening to us this time. any suggestions?

Sorry that I havent checked this board in a while. Right now I only have internet on my phone and its a pain to post with it. I talked with a friend of mine who strongly suggested the Shaklee pre and probiotics. I havent been able to find it in any stores, and cant order it online with my phone. Even though its been a while since wee dude has been off of the antibiotics I am still going to order it when I can. It cant hurt to do it.

Also, it looks like wee dude has acid reflux. Hes been puking more and more, and has been beyond fussy. Hoping that between the antacid, some gas drops, and then the pre and probiotics, Ill have my content baby back once again

I'm sure we developed thrush after I was on a course of antibiotics for mastitis. Whenever I had to go on antibiotics for mastitis again, I used probiotic Culturelle and gave DS the contents by breaking open the caplet into a small amount of breast milk in a bottle (that was cooled in fridge). I thought it was okay to apply directly to inside of mouth too according to Dr Sears but I can't find on his site where it says to do so now. I also bought Culturelle because it was one of the few probiotics that was dairy free and safe for infants of all ages. Or I could have sworn that it said it was safe for infants of all ages but now all the packaging I see online is for 1 year or older - maybe it's changed because I know that was something I had double checked before giving to DS. Anyway, we never had a second case of thrush after I started using Culturelle as a preventative measure.
