New & Have Question

Hi All.
I am a mother of a beautiful baby girl named Elliot. She will be 5 months old Friday! Smile I love her dearly. She is my first one and was trying for her for over 3 yrs.
I have been breastfeeding all this time and I am not sure if I know what normal nipples look like anymore lol..
What are they supposed to look like? also, they have been kinda yellow on the tips, is that normal?
I have been having this stinging or tingling sensation on my boobs for the last week. is that normal? any advice is appreciated.

It sounds like you could have a yeast infection in your nipples. Have you noticed any white spots (thrush) in your baby's mouth?

If it hurts, there's something up. Now the tingling sensation, is only for part of the feeding or the whole time (or even when not BFing)? If it's only for part it could be letdown you're feeling.
Other than being bigger, my nipples look the same as they did previously. Every now and then I'll get a sore red spot on it from a bad latch or my child pulling himself off in a rough manner.

thank you... no there are no white spots in babys mouth. the dr perscribed some meds to treat the yeast infection if there is one.. so hopefully all of it will go away. the tingling sensation is not during.. its a different sensation not the same as a let down. thanks for your help ladies

If it doesn't improve then you may have some soreness due to improper latch. Even now I have that problem from time to time. You could try switching nursing positions or using lanolin or hydrogel pads of the meds do not help.

I also wanted to say congrats! It's so hard to wait for a little one when you are ready so I'm glad you finally have a little girl in your arms. Biggrin
