    Default New Here

HI, I'm new to posting here. My name is Krista and I have been BFing twins for almost 8 months now (yay) and its going great. The problem that had arised is, for almost a week now they have been sleeping better and not waking to nurse as much at night. But, you cant tell my boobs that. My breast have been painfully full (especially in the morning) and its not getting better. I don't remember this problem with nursing DD1 when she started STTN (althought I know I wasn't feeding twins and I require more supply for the two babies).

Anyway, my question is what can I do to relieve the engorgement? I thought about pumping but won't I just make more to replace what I've pumped? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Congrats on nursing twins for 8 months. That's super awesome! Also woot for twins that sleep well! It took 18 months for my DD to finally start STTN, so it was a slow process and my body had time to adjust. I recommend hand expressing to relieve pressure and then getting them to do a thorough draining when the wake up. Hand expressing should be enough to relieve the pain but not so much as to fool your body into maintaining its current schedule. Give your boobs a nice massage in the shower too. That should help to prevent plugged ducts. Good luck! Your boobs will get the hint eventually.

Yep, ditto to Erin's post! express just enough to feel better and they will adjust. I'm very jealous - my 16 month old still doesn't STTN more than once a week!

Thanks Ladies, I'm going to take a nice hot shower tonight and try to express some milk out. My babes aren't (unforunately) STTN, they are still waking once a night, which is a lot better then the usual 3-4 at different times (its been a long, sleepless 8 months!).
