so far, chips ahoy is winning again (always notice an increase in supply when I've had a few cookies) I wonder why this is...??
I read somewhere that sometimes when you see an increase due to eating steak or in your case, cookies, the increase is more contributed to the increase in calories than the actual food. So YAY on eating more calories and having a good reason to! :D
I think it's more a result of an enjoyable experience. When you indulge and eat a few of your favorite cookies, you are happier and more relaxed.
A mothers diet and fluid intake appear to be unrelated to milk supply except in extreme circumstances (ie: starvation). This was found by a study involving developing countries and other parts of the world.
Yeah you are probably right. Sometimes when I try to pump before I have had lunch or dinner and am hungry...it's not a very good session. This is probably because I am just so ready to eat and get the pumping over with. :)
Housepoet's Famous Lactation Boosting Oatmeal, Chocolate Chip & Flaxseed cookies (created by Noel Pickett noel@clubmuse.com)
Ingredients :
* 1 cup butter or marg
* 1 cup sugar
* 1 cup brown sugar
* 4 tablespoons water
* 2 tablespoons flaxseed meal*
* 2 large eggs
* 1 teaspoon vanilla
* 2 cups flour
* 1 teaspoon baking soda
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 3 cups oats, thick cut if you can get them
* 1 cup or more chocolate chips
* 2 tablespoons of brewers yeast* (be generous)
Directions:
Preheat oven at 375 degrees F. Mix together 2 tablespoons of flaxseed meal and water, set aside for 3-5 minutes. Cream (beat well) margarine and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, mix well. Stir flaxseed mixture and add with vanilla to the margarine mix. Beat until blended. Sift together dry ingredients, except oats and chips. Add to margarine mixture. Stir in oats then chips. Scoop or drop onto baking sheet, preferably lined with parchment or silpat. The dough is a little crumbly, so it helps to use a scoop.
Bake 8-12 minutes, depending on size of cookies.
Serves: 6 dozen cookies
Preparation time: 15 minutes

Hi Shana,
I just saw your recipe for the supply-boosting shake that contains peanut butter. I thought that BFing woman are not suppose to eat nuts or peabut butter of any kind in case their babies are allergic. Please tell me this is not true! I LOVE peanut butter!
