Evie is 8 months now. When both my boys were 8 months, AF returned, so I was expecting her soon. But instead, I'm getting pregnancy symptoms (don't really plan to test as I've been on Depo since November and DH got snipped 6 weeks ago). But among everything, I've got random let down again. Evie's schedule has not changed, she's still nursing every 2-3 hours daily AND nightly. Currently, I'm lopsided and engorged on one side. I'm losing my mind. My correct word memory (can't even think of what that's called) is gone and I MUST have forgot which side Evie nursed off of last and double fed off of one side.
Please tell me that random let down (and everything else weird going on with me) is normal at 8 months?

I wish i had the answers, maybe someone here can help. I too have had PG symptoms lately, they keep messing with my head. nothing but negatives we are not trying and Dh is prety good about condoms/withdrawal, not that we have much time to DTD.
i have been cramping during my night time nursing, and I feel like af is around the corner but nothing yet.
i am thinking about resuming charting.
sry i guess im no help.
Sounds hormonal to me. I had all kinds of crazy symptoms with Morgan until my cycle returned at 13 months!! Then it was irregular when it did come. I had many times where I'd swear AF was going to show and then nothing. A couple times I had preggo symptoms too. It is normal to "cycle" like that while your body gears up for AF. As far as the let-down, I can't remember when that stopped for me, but I wouldn't worry about it. Your DD is still nursing a lot.
Im too am glad to not feel alone in the crazy hormone area, and to know that someone else is still nursing so often.
Does Evie not usually take both sides? or does she only nurse on one side per session?
If she is a one side at a time gal, you could try and use the old bracelet or ring trick and switch it to the side that you need to nurse at your next session. it might help with the lopsidedness. But then again maybe one breast produces more than the other.
Lilly tends to take both sides, but lately with her top front teeth coming in she has been nursing less during the day and more at night, so when she doesn't eat every 2 -3 hours i get kind of worried now, not that my poor nips don't mind the break.
Also i tend to wear a sports bra at night and it always seemed to help with not having let down issues in the beginning, i still wear them to bed most nights. you could try i know they aren't the most comfortable but i just use a size bigger and pull it up or down on either side to nurse.
Strangely, my let down isn't an issue at night. I don't leak at night when we nurse, but during the day I do.
She typically only nurses one side. Normally I can tell which side was done last by touching myself (though I try not to do that in public. LOL).
I decided, since I was so engorged on the one side, to nurse Evie on the same side for a 3rd time (in football position) while pumping on the engorged side since DH and I were going to a movie in 30 minutes anyway. This provided an opportunity to see if she'd take pumped milk (she down right refuses formula). But she actually was content with my mom until about 10 minutes before we returned home. The movie was 2 hours and 22 minutes, so we were gone a little over 2.5 hours. My mom figured since she was getting fussy so close to when we'd return that I'd prefer to just nurse her, so she didn't offer the milk. But at least I felt less pressed for time.

My random let downs didn't stop until DD was over a year! It would usually only happen if we'd skipped a feed or if she'd only nursed quickly. There was a period of time around when she was just learning to walk (11-14 months) that she shortened her sessions to just a few minutes. I think my boobs were confused. Now she'd rather nurse all freaking day if I'd let her.
sounds like crazy random hormones unfortunately!
