Tongue tie and ? about pumping
DS2 turned 3 weeks this past Saturday. They told me when he was born that he had a slight tongue tie but it wasn't bad enough to need to be clipped unless I noticied issues with him nursing. He is able to stick his tongue out of his mouth just not too far.
I have pain for the first 15 seconds or so ov nursing him then it generally goes away. I have pretty large nips too and he's never able to get all of it into his mouth. Ever. DS1 was never able to get all of it into his mouth either and he wasn't tongue tied.
He has PLENTY of wet/poopy diapers that are the typical mustard color and seedy. I never had pain really with DS1 so I don't know if it's normal for me to still have this kind of pain over 3 weeks in. Literally the pain makes me cringe then goes away. Occasionally it feels like he's biting me as he's nursing but not all the time.
I don't know if I should insit on getting him clipped. Will this help him be a better nurser? Also, will the slight tongue tie cause him speech problems? I don't want to have problems later on down the line and then have to do something about it then and it be worse.
My second issue....I will be returning to work at the end of October and will be pumping. I need to start building up my freezer stash for that as well as allowing DH and DS1 to give him a bottle.
Is it better for me to pump while nursing him? If I do that, how many times a day should I do this?
Or is it better to pump after nursing him? Again, how many times a day should I do this?
I'm also concerned about him being hungry after I pump. Will my body just regulate itself so that after I nurse/pump or nurse then pump that I'll have milk for him when he's ready to eat next?
