Update on Lip Tie

Evie is 12 months (will be 13 months on the 29th) and is FINALLY old enough to be put under for the very short amount of time it will take to have her lip tie cut and "z-plastied". We met with the ENT this afternoon to schedule it, but we have to wait for insurance to approve it. Crossing our fingers it will happen next month. :goodluck:

I look forward to having it done and over with. Her big brother (DS#1.. 8 years old) is having his done with a laser at the dentist's office next month. I SOO do not look forward to that one! The dentist does not think that DS#2 will need to have it done. I hope so. I cannot stand to think of the pain of having to put him through it too.

Here's to less sore and raw nipples in my future!

Evie had her lip tie surgery today. 13 months +1 week old. The doc said he just snipped and then it tore naturally I guess it was mostly webbing that just needed help to start splitting. She was under for less than 5 minutes. When I got back to her recovery room, the nurse was holding her and the binky was in her mouth without being held there (she still uses a 0-6 months size one). So I took her from the nurse and made my breast available to my poor, starving girl. She took it right away and, while it didn't feel like much difference in latch, she was able to latch easily and didn't seem to be in any discomfort from the slight swelling. She's not complaining at all to nurse today. Yahoo

YAY!

I'm sure you both need to just concentrate on her latch for a bit. Probably will take a bit for her to adjust to nursing a bit differently than before. KUP!
