The first week in August is World Breastfeeding Week! As part of the celebration, an event called The Big Latch On is held at locations around the world. This year, there are two opportunities to participate. Friday August 3rd and Saturday August 4th at 10:30 am local time. Thousands of women breastfeed their nurslings simultaneously in the hopes of breaking records and spreading the milky love! Will you be participating? I know I will!!
Well, I obviously won't be. He hasn't asked since mid last week! They are trying to get a last minute thing together locally though. Kinda makes me sad that I can't participate, but then I remember the pain and I'm happy again. lol
Oh... I'm tempted. I will actually be close to a town that has one on Friday. But I am not planning on being in that area until 11am, meeting my step mom for lunch at 11:30... I'd have to leave at 8am to get there in time to register and I'd be alone with all three of my kids.. Not sure it's worth the stress for me.. But I've got a week to think about it still.

Jackie, go for moral support! If more mommies show up (even if they're not BFing) then it'll just get bigger and bigger each year. I had a mom come with me last year who was in a similar situation as you. She tried to latch her son and they counted her even though he refused.
Janelle, there will be lots of older kids to play with. Your other two will have fun!
I told them I'd come if they get it set up. If nothing else there will be other toddlers for Aiden to play with. lol
I emailed the contact person and asked her opinion, cause the boys will have been in the car just short of 2 hours by the time we get there. They WILL be antsy. She personally invited me and the kids to come! You can tell I'm still driven by nursing hormones, cause my eyes welled up with tears when I read her email response (no more than 10 minutes after I clicked send).
So.. I'm joining! I am now planning on loading up the kids into the car just before 8 am so I can make it on time. I'm allowing us time to stop if needed, but hoping we don't have to.
Granted, If we weren't already planning on being in that area (20 minutes away from there) we would not be doing it, but it's like it was meant to be.

There will be nothing local to me and I have been away from home home three weekends in a row now so don't want to travel anywhere. I hope they do something in the nearest big town though because someone complained in the paper this week about a lady breastfeeding her baby at a bus stop, so hopefully somebody pulls somethign together in a central part of town just to annoy th ewhingers.
WOO HOO Janelle!!!
Wendy, seriously?! Ugh, some people!
I know thankfullyt lots of people wrote back to reply and tell that person to pull their head in or put it under a blanket
