Can't find the clog :( (XP)

The lower left quadrant of my right breast HURTS!!! Sad It feels super bruised and every time I change position (from sitting to standing, bending over, reaching my arm up for something in the cupboard), it HURTS!! Sad

I got my flu shot on Thursday and I also did some painting at my mom's new house that same day. The flu shot I got in my left arm, so that arm got very sore the next day. My breast (opposite side of body) got painful about the same time as the arm getting sore. I felt "run down" about 6 hours later. My whole body started to hurt. But NO fever! I figured either I pulled a muscle in the lower part of my breast while painting (I did use my right arm to paint--right handed and all) or I bruised it somehow. I am still blaming the run down, whole body hurts feeling on the flu shot.

I've given myself a breast exam (also got the doc's version of that at the same appointment I got the flu shot) and I cannot find any one particular problem area. The whole lower left quadrant hurts! I feel a HUGE lump or knot right where the bottom of my breast meets my rib cage, but I can't tell if it's my rib or not. I try to lay on my back, put my hand under my head and lift up the breast tissue so that I can't be feeling my rib and I can't find the problem spot. I've also tried the gravity approach and squeezed my breast tissue while on my hands and knees.. same deal, no obvious clog.

Every time the baby pushes herself against my chest, I shudder it hurts so bad!!

Do you all think I just pulled a muscle or bruised my breast somehow? It hurts bad! No visible red spots or hot spots (except after I've been looking for the lump). No fever, or I'd be going to walk-in for a mastitis check.

Advice? I've already done a great deal of massaging to try and release a clog, but without finding a clog....

do you have a pump? maybe if you completely empty, then do some massage that would help.

I do have a pump. I will try that tonight after she goes to bed. We did just night wean her in the last week. And the same day I did the painting at my mom's house, I went a lot longer without feeding her (6 hours). I didn't feel at ALL engorged when I got back to her, but did nurse her as soon as I got home.

My only advice is to keep working on it. The last time I had a clogged milk duct it did take awhile to go away because DS being a toddler meant he wasn't nursing as frequently and wasn't easily tricked into nursing longer for my benefit. Blum 3 Make sure you're starting outside of the bump and massaging around it and on it and not go in a straight line. You probably know that though. You've had quite the week! Sad
