My little man has his birthday today so I have made it to one year of breast feeding and plan to continue until he is 2 or he is ready to stop if it's before 2. I have stopped pumping at work but he will still get feeds at home and we still have a freezer stash to work through at daycare.
I am a bit of a freak and had a fairly easy start to feeding, DS latched himself on perfectly within his first hour even surprising the midwife. I had comments from the midwives while I was in hospital that they loved coming to my room because I was the only one not having trouble and was comfortable with feeding. My big issues hit around 7 or 8 months when I battled cracks which prevented me feeding or pumping off one side but I persevered and hand expressed off that side to keep my supply up and we haven't looked back since. When I was younger I always said I would breast feed for 6 months, then until the baby got teeth and then 12 months, never thought I would get to 12 months and still be going strong.
