Need encouragement.

I am thinking (and have been) of night weaning.. again. But she's so distracted during the day, that the only time she is really nursing for keeps is in the middle of the night.

I need sleep. My stress is through the roof again. But I worry that if I night wean, than my milk will disappear and her few and far between 30 seconds on/60 seconds off nursing style in the day time will disappear right with it.

I don't want to be done nursing completely.. just tired. Sad

Sanity and sleep are big motivators for me! I say cut out those night sessions.. at least before or after a certain point. Like, until at least 5am, no nursing. Or no nursing after 11pm. Something like that.

You can do it!

Try cutting out one session at a time. Your milk should adjust slower that way and you can figure out if weaning at night will actually get you more sleep.

Unfortunately for me, night weaning had no impact on sleep because she still woke up (and still does). *sigh* I hope you are much luckier than I am though.

It didn't help with DS2 but we night weaned Evie in September and she did better at night for a few weeks but then got sick and I got sympathetic and then I started enjoying the night time nursing sessions until recently.

Last night was not easy. I let myself get drunk cause DH said he'd take care of her. This apparently means listen to her cry on and off for an hour before going in and checking on her. She would cry for a couple minutes and then be fine for ten or so before crying again. Thankfully this only happened once before 11:30 and she didn't wake again until 4:30. I took care of her at that time and happily nursed her. She didn't want to go back down easily then, but calmed down after a minute or so.

I am hoping tonight is easier.

You can do it!!! And when you figure out how to please let me know! Kaylee was sick and was up 3-4 times a night and decided to stay waking up 3-4 times. I'm exhausted. 6 am comes a little too quickly when you're up that much. Hoping you are successful Smile

She didn't need me ALL night last night! She cried one little noise, kinda like a single puppy bark, but that was it. I don't even know what time that was. I didn't look at the clock, but I would guess it was just before midnight. Next thing I know, DH was bringing her in to me at 7 am when he was off to work.

Night before last (20th-- night #2) she woke just after midnight and nursed before going back down then was up around 5:15 when DH was exercising.

If tonight is a repeat of last night, then I think we are/were successful. Oh... And she's increased her attention during daytime nursing sessions... So it looks like night weaning is having a positive affect where I was expecting a negative one (subsequent day time weaning)! Yahoo

Well... She woke at 3:30 with a scream this morning. Tugging on her ear again. Teething molars sucks!!! I nursed her to calm her down after checking for fever. Then she cried again just seconds before DH's alarm went off at 5am. I just brought her to bed and nursed her while I slept a bit longer. She fell back asleep, but she doesn't share a bed well anymore. She flails around lie a mad man in her sleep. Practically gave me a black eye! Lol

I tried to put her back in herd crib, but DH had to many lights on and it woke her up. 'Doh.

Last two nights she nursed once. List night it was 2ish, night before was only 10:30.

Yesterday I had some EWCM and tonight I have some pretty decent bloating and, if I weren't so tired from DS's nightmare around 3 this morning... I'd say I might actually have a little more drive tonight. After almost 17 months, could I finally be ovulating?

Since DH is home tomorrow, I'm hoping to let her fuss tonight.

Slept through to 5:30. I nursed her and put her back hoping she'd let me sleep longer... Only lasted about 45 minutes. But still... Smile

She slept well last night again, despite all the noise going on from ds#2 and myself with stomach bugs.

Dh says she made some noise around 4 and again around 5 and then I started hearing her about 5:45. Dh wanted to wait as long as possible to get her up cause he was up with ds while I was trying to care for myself and ds was on the couch and she is a tyrant to him if he stats put long. The noise she made was just little blurts of a whine and no more.

I think we have turned a good page in the chapter of sleep less nights. Now... Here's hoping she escapes whatever hit ds last night.

AFM and AF... I'm so bloated today that I'm walking sideways. Dh and I were intimate before the bug hit and he had a very hard time being gentle enough for me, so it's not so surprising that I ache today, and am spotting slightly. I am hoping something comes of this (as in the return of AF... since he's fixed).

Well, she escaped the stomach bug.. But got hit with a flu like virus. Fever has kept her up the last two nights.

Took her to the Dr this morning for her blood circulation issues getting worse with the illness and was applauded by the doc for still breastfeeding her. :clappy:
