Night weaning progress!!

We've been taking a stretched out Jay Gordon approach and last night was our first attempt to go bedtime-6am without nursing. Over the past month I've been gradually cutting down on the amount of time she nurses at night. Last night she went to bed in her room at 7:30pm. When she woke around 11pm, DH grabbed her and brought her to our bed. I then went to bed in her bed. DH was able to get her back to sleep in 10 minutes! She slept until about 3am. It took DH about 15 minutes that time to get her back down. She woke at 5:30am and I decided that was close enough to 6am so I went in and nursed her. Overall, it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be! I really needed DH's help with this and he did a great job. DD is a crazy boob addict and would just claw and paw me all night if I were in there. We're going to keep this up and hopefully she'll just start sleeping in her room longer and longer.

That is great news Erin!!! Yay for DH helping and working magic to get her back to sleep!

That was Odin too, such an addict. He would totally try to be latched on at all times if I was nearby. I didn't help our situation either cause every time he moved an inch I was shoving boob at him to keep him quiet and asleep.

Holy crap! Teagan STTN last night! I had to conjure up some serious will power not to go in and check on her. It was magical.

Congrats!!! This is awesome news! Smile I hope she continues doing well for you!

Beni has not done as well... she still isn't nursing at night, but, she wakes a couple times a night... usually only takes a couple minutes to get her back down, if that... but it sure would be nice if she would just stop waking! Smile

Congrats on all the success. I have pretty much nightweaned katie as well, but the past month or so she's refused to nurse at bedtime (when reading books, rocking, etc.) and just points to her bed, gets in and lays her head down. This is the moment I've been waiting for in terms of sleep (yay!) but so bittersweet as she's only nursed about 1x per week for the last month since she dayweaned long ago when I went back to work in Aug. Sorry to go on - I'm so happy that you're doing well.

This week has been a mixed bag. She STTN 2 nights in a row and then morphed into nightmare baby who doesn't sleep. We still haven't nursed between bedtime and 6 am but she kept us up all night fidgeting for 2 nights. She wasn't even asking to nurse. She was just fidgeting and fussing. I was so exhausted yesterday. Last night she only woke about twice and was pretty easy to get back down. What gives?!?! Argh.

I'm sorry to hear you're going through the same stuff we are... because yeah, this is exactly what it's like for us. Some nights she'll do a pretty long stretch, which I am aware of only because in the morning I don't remember much happening during the night... and then other nights she'll sit in bed crying, or just waking up again and again and again... and there really doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it! Sad

I hope she works it out for you soon!

We're back to square one. Sad After that week of hit or miss STTN, she caught a nasty cold and we went back to nursing whenever she wanted at night to be sure she got the comfort and hydration she needed. She's feeling better now but we've got company so she's in our bed and DH has a huge exam next week so I'm doing whatever I can to keep her quiet at night, which means nursing a few times. Once his exams are over we'll be starting the process all over again. Le sigh.

((hugs)) You will get there eventually! I know moving next week is really going to get DS all off and I expect many more night wake ups for the month of March. Teething has him waking up at night right now and even nursing in the middle of the night a couple of times - and this child "night weaned" last fall!

So the big exam is over (he passed!), company is gone (for now), and we're illness free (for now). We started back up with "send Daddy" and after two nights of screaming, one night of 1 quick wake up, we now have a toddler that is STTN!! :headbang: She's STTN 3 nights in a row and this morning she slept in till 7! I'm overjoyed! We put her in new PJs the first night she STTN and now DH is calling them the magic PJs. He won't let me put her in anything else. Honestly, I'm scared to! They are a bit warmer than her others so perhaps she was getting cold at night?

That is great!!! Morgan had a couple nights where she only woke up once and then got sick (double ear infection) so we are back to square one. She woke up 3 times last night Sad
