I like the coverage of extended nursing, but I am not sure I like how it is being portrayed. They could have used a better picture. It is going to create a lot of media stir that is for sure!

I think that picture is unrealistic. They chose a kid who looks 5, not 3. Everything I have seen on this so far today has pretty much been negative "he is way too old to be breastfeeding" comments. I am all for extended breastfeeding, but I don't like this cover. There were other pictures in the article that were much better and more realistic.

My thoughts exactly. She's posed as if to say "In your face!" and the kid has this look on his face like "She made me do it!" I also don't like the headline "Are you Mom enough?". Like its some sort of contest. That's exactly the reputation extended BFers are trying to dispel. A better image would be that of a mom sitting on a park bench amidst a large group of people nursing her pre-schooler. That's at least more realistic. This obviously wasn't about realism but rather sensationalism. It brings bad attention to BFing. Makes us look like wacko outsiders hell bent on shoving our boobs in people's faces. But I guess its a good thing that it got people talking about it.

I agree that I'm not too into this cover either even though I'm all for extened breast feeding. I think it will create a lot more negatve responses just based on the picture rather than the topic alone.
