Right now my husband has to wait a month to pick up a new hunting rifle he bought.. He easily could have stolen one to do nafarious purposes.. only the law abiding citizens.. ABIDE by the law :)
LOL Nothing to talk about! Just another gunman in an elementary school, nothing to see here.
We COULD talk about ways to make it harder for mentally ill/criminal people to get guns.
We COULD talk about a single payer system that provides access to comprehensive mental healthcare.
We COULD but we won't, until the next gunman starts shooting in the next public place, and then we won't because there will be excuses about why it's not the gun's fault or why we shouldn't bother making laws because people will just break them, or because it's too soon (like a single day goes by in this country without gun violence....so when will it ever not be "too soon.")
You know what, you guys are right. I'm way too bitter to talk about this on this board. Question withdrawn.
There are definitely some worthy topics here.
1. Prescribing drugs for very young children.
2. Caring for the mentally ill.
3. Healthcare access.
4. Security in schools.
I seriously don't get the thought process behind people saying "why bother with laws...people will just break them anyway!". So why is it okay to make laws for, say, driving - like no cell phones/texting - but not tougher gun laws????
