I think its so weird that she would get slammed for this. Even if one disagrees with the idea, they must know how common it is, why bother specifically going after some celebrity about it?
I think because she is a celebrity and for no other reason. That girl's been ridiculed a lot in recent years. I wish people would leave her and her family alone.

My first thought, when I saw that photo of Jessica Simpson's baby, was, "Why didn't she comb that baby's hair before putting her pic on TV?" My second thought was, "I hope that baby doesn't pee on that bed!" Other than that, I was fine with it.

I'm not fond of bikinis on anyone, but I do like two-piece suits for babies & younger kids for ease in going potty. (A bit of TMI... I've personally developed a knack for pulling the crotch to the side so I can pee without taking my suit off, but that's too much to ask a small child.) As far as where to draw the line from two-piece suits on babies to on older girls, with Tiven, it was when the bottoms of the two-piece suits started looking inappropriate. When she got to be about 6, the bottoms started being more "bikini-ish" they no longer came up to her waist, and the legs were cut higher on the rear end. I don't like that look. One-piece suits tend to be cut more conservatively overall. If I found a cute tankini with full-cut bottoms, I'd let Tiven wear it.

Just out of curiosity, what is the difference in a two piece and a bikini? I always have thought you either had a one piece, a two piece/bikini or a tankini (that covered the same as a one piece, but was in two pieces. I have never heard of a distinction between a two piece and a bikini.

I am not completely sure, but I think it has to do with the actual 'cut' of the pieces. Like you can buy bikini 'cut' underwear, breif (granny panties is what I call them lol), etc. This is my best guess.

^ what she said. A "two piece" covers more than a bikini does. Think brief undies & a sports bra vs. Victoria's Secret.

To me a two piece is a catch all phrase for any bathing suit that is in two pieces. So it includes bikinis, tankinis.

but now i see that it means different things to different people

I love Jess Simpson and Maxwell is just so cute!

Anyway, her putting her baby in a bikini is fine by me but maybe having the picture aired on TV for everyone to see is not such a great idea. Unfortunately, the world we live in today MAKES things like this not ok. Also, I think bikini should be introduced in adult hood..... they are associated with sex (imo) due to models posing in them for magazines.

A tankini has a top with more coverage, like a tank top. A bikini has a shorter bra-like top.A "2 piece" includes both styles, imo
