    Default "Blind" debate

If the posters names/signatures were hidden so you could only see their response to a debate topic, do you think you would be able to figure out which poster posted what?

For me, I would be able to pick out some of the posters based on their writing style. A few I can pick out based on our different/similar opinions on some of the topics.

I am sure I could pick out a few, but it may depend on the subject

My gut reaction was, "Of course!" But on second thought, on certain subjects I'm not sure I could tell the difference between Lillie & Gloria or Audra & Melis. And I don't even know your real name!

There are a few that I feel I could pick out. There are many that I could not.

I think there are a few I could figure out or at least put in a pool of 3.

I could figure out most people. Certain people like to link vs post their own words, some (like me!) have the same tone (like, sarcastic or ironic), some chronic misspellings would give it away, or certain words a poster may use frequently. Obviously we have done a lot of the same debates a lot, so we tend to know a lot about ones position without even seeing the name. It would be an awesome experiment......for instance, if we could get past the automatic associations one has with a given screen name would we read the responses differently/react differently to the tone or even the actual nut of the argument? I think so. I'd love to see a way for it to happen for a week, I bet the board would be more fun.

I admit that sometimes I have preconceived ideas about what certain people are going to say, but I've also been pleasantly surprised by a few things.

Oh hey, does anyone remember that troll who couldn't remember what position it had taken from one debate to another or even from one page of a debate to the next? That was fun, pointing out his/her inconsistencies and trying to set traps for him/her. Oh gosh, what was that username? Hippie something?

Or we would spend the whole debate guessing who is who

There are a few people I might be able to guess, but it could be surprising too.

I think I could pick out many of the regulars. And you would all know me because I keep using the word "onus."
