They aren't "promoting a gay lifestyle" by having her as their spokesperson. No child is going to say hey that lady is playing with elves...she's a lesbian! I just don't get it.
On a side note I wrote to JcPenney's after the initial outrage expressing how I don't feel this way and neither does anyone else I know and their response basically was to say they don't and do not have any intention of changing their spokesperson so these crazy ladies are out of luck.
I do not personally watch Ellen (Or really any other daytime TV show), however even as a Conservative Christian I would will not boycott JCPenny over having her as a spokesperson. The reason is that if you were to scrutinise the lives of all of Hollywood for only extremely conservative moral people, you would have no where left to shop. I do not personally agree with the Homosexual lifestyle, but IMO, it is not different than two straight people living together before they are married. Yes Ellen is Gay and she does not hide that, but I also think she does it in a classy way.

It is insulting to the Christians I know that groups like this claim to speak for them. This has nothing to do with being Christian. Being anti-gay is not a Christian thing and the Christians I know are appalled by statements and actions against gay people.
It's an individual anti-gay thing and it's shameful when groups appropriate Christianity for it.
I just love Ellen. Seriously. I love her. She has one of the only tv shows that is rated G. If I ever happen to be home in the afternoon, I totally turn her on bc her show is A) hilarious, B) kid-friendly. And I am so happy for her. Remember when she had that sitcom in the early 90's called Ellen? And then she came out on tv (on Oprah) and in the show and then they canceled it bc of all of the backlash for being "too gay". And now she has showed them. It makes me seriously so happy for her (and my gay friends.)
I totally agree with Laurie that as a Christian, I find this group embarrassing.
I'd be much more ashamed to shop at a store that treats its employees so poorly that they require state assistance for food and insurance. *THAT* is sinful IMO. Where are the conservative christians on that one?
You're comparing being gay to being a habitual-liar, enhancement-drug-addicted fraud??? You're comparing being gay to having epic episodes of public drunkenness or hotel wrecking??? Seriously??? I've never heard of anyone being fired under a morality clause or having to give back Olympic medals because they came out of the closet.
