Well I would guess if Missy values their opinion than it must be someone she knows personally. I don't think it would be weird at all for someone she knows to follow threads on a board that she personally runs.

Whatever. I'm not going to argue that I think it's weird. It's my opinion. I'm not going to avoid the internet for it but I have the option to think people do odd things.

I don't object to getting a little bit of input from other people if missy didn't see a clear answer but I would hope our opinions as active board members mattered more than all these other people who were consulted or interjected their opinion.

And readers who haven't even joined Po? Yeah i admit that's weird. If missy knows them personally and finds them to be wise and values their opinions, I would have found that to be worth mentioning. Makes more sense. Random reader of the board? Yep... I think that's weird.

Either way, I don't like the thought of lots of outside non participatory people influencing how participants get to use the board. Seems backwards to me but it is what it is.

I could be wrong, but I got the impression that it was members of PO, but not frequent members of the debate board.

I have gotten PM's before from people saying they agreed with me, but did not feel brave enough to post.

and including one from someone not a member but that follows the debates.

I bolded and quoted it above, but here it is again. So I'm not sure why you got that impression as Missy states it pretty clearly?

And yes, we all get PM's, but FTR it is against site rules to talk about PM content on the board. Just so you know.

Is it against the rules to just state that you have gotten PM's before? Just this week you stated that you were going to PM someone. I have seen many people do this, and did not think just referring to PM's in general were against the rules.

Um, no. You are talking about the content of your PM.

No it's not against the rules to say...I'm going to PM you. It is against the rules to say what was sent in a PM or to use that against someone...Like "Melissa, remember when you told me you got fired for beating up a coworker." (that has never been sent in a PM)

If they are regular or semi regular posters here I cannot picture anyone not brave enough to say something. all the things we discuss and this they are afraid to post?

If they aren't posters here, to be frank, I don't really care what they think about how we want to handle this board. I care what regular posters think and that includes if we disagree.

Oh come on, Really? She didn't give specific details I don't think a general statement about getting PM's from people who agree with you is against the rules. She didn't even say agreed about what. I think some people really just need to grow up this is getting ridiculous. Are we really going to nitpick the rules so much that it isn't even fun to post anymore?

In fact I have made that same statement myself before I guess I am a rulebreaker too. Maybe I should be banned.
