I am not crafty enough to make the costumes, so I buy. I usually spend around $20 on it, but I honestly don't feel too badly about it. After Halloween I put the costume in T's dress up box (other items in the dress up box include pirate gear, a spider man mask, a fireman hat, et cetera) and let him play in it when he wants to until he outgrows it.

I'm so not crafty, so I always buy the boys costumes. We've been able to hand down some of the costumes since I have all boys. I'd say normally we spend about $20-$25 per kid.

I spent more than usual this year - $30. But she is really into costumes and dress up this year so she will use it a lot. If it was only going to be worn once I wouldn't have spent so much. Normally I try to keep them in the $10-$15 range. And I make as much as I can. I enjoy crafting and costuming.

My DS's costume was $3, but he didn't get to wear if because he didn't go to day care as we spent the mornign at hospital. It was $1 for the pillow case and $2 for the roll of ribbon to make a super hero cape, he has a shirt with a superhero that says awesome on it, and was going to wear undies over his shorts

I do not let my girls play with their costumes throughout the year. One year I did and it was ruined by the time it fit my next child. I try to keep it nice for the next child to wear. I was just thinking I do not know what I will do with the lady bug costume because I do not have someone to pass it down to. I hate to give it away after just being worn one time, but it will not fit in a whole nother year. Plus I do not normally do the same costume two years in a row. It was so adorable though.

I really enjoy picking out coordinating costumes for my girls and making them to the best of my ability (I don't sew....AT ALL, lol). This year they went as Cookie Monster and Elmo (and a good friend was Oscar) and I made some really cute tutu dresses with felt faces. They were absolutely adorable and the total cost was $18 for both of them. We are already starting to come up with ideas for next year!
