Deployed submarine sailor ordered to appear in custody hearing

[h=1]Judge Orders Deployed US Sailor To Attend Custody Hearing Or Lose Daughter, Face Arrest[/h]Do you believe holding this judge's order is reasonable? Should the dad lose custody while he's deployed?

I do not believe a judge should be able to arrest someone for not being able to come to a custody hearing due to being deployed.

As for who should have custody, I think that should depend on why CPS removed the child from her mother's care and what is going to be in the best interest of the child.

This is not going to end well for the judge. He can have a JAG represent him and ultimately federal law is going to trump whatever the judge is trying to do.

I'm a little confused as to whether he was granted custody through Washington or Michigan. If it's Washington, yeah good luck with that.

I did some more digging. Here is a Facebook page from the family: https://www.facebook.com/justiceforthehindesfamily

From what I can gather from that page and other articles, the original case for custody was in Michigan. The child was removed from the bio-mom's custody due to neglect (and abuse according to some sources.) Dad has had full custody and living in Washington for 4 years where he's based. (The little girl is now six.) The Michigan judge refused to relinquish jurisdiction over the case despite the child's residence being out of state.

I understand that we don't have all the facts but my primary objection is how the dad is ordered to do something impossible to keep his kid. The stepmom shared that he does have a team of attorneys -- including JAG -- but what a messed up case!

I saw this yesterday and I am not impressed with this judge. I do think the father will win, but what a terrible thing to go through
