I watched the video for the first time just now. I think the lady is pretty nice and a seems like a good mom - from whatever one can tell from a 20 seconds =) The grassy part where she told her son to go 'make pee' isn't really that far and if he just lowered his pants and proceeded I can see how that can happen really that fast. She does not at all seem like the kind of mom that would just have her son or just let her son pee wherever.

What on earth goes through the minds of some people????

But I also don't think she should have been given a ticket by the cop - he should have judged that based on the boys age, he obviously wasn't doing it because he was intoxicated or anything like we usually see, but I could understand if he gave her a warning instead.

The part that upsets me about this, is that they were in a store and they weren't allowed to use the bathroom.
I've run into this multiple times, even just a while ago at a gas station - filled up, bought some snacks/drinks, and asked to use the washroom - I was told no, when I told them I was pregnant and really needed to use the washroom, they didn't care. I've seen mothers in the same situation where they're getting denied the use of the bathrooms, and they're response is "either my kid is going to go in their pants or go outside if you don't let us use it".....and still they're denied using the facilities.
At one of the stores I worked at, it had to do with the insurance company. My boss wasn't covered if he allowed people to use his restroom.

The cop who gave out the ticket is a jerk. Obviously peeing in public is not cool. But a two year old?? Clearly it was extenuating circumstances. It wasn't as if she told her older kids to pee on a pole.

I'm currently potty training my 2yo and I would be so mad if a business wouldn't let a toddler use there bathroom! Yes, we try to pee before we leave and all that, but accidents happen.

I am also busy potty training my 2 y/o. After the first day we were ok. But I don't spend time in public yet. We're only on day 4 though. No accidents though after day 1 yay! =)

I have been reminded though from this incident to be very sure to try my best to make him go every available inside opportunity LOL.

Me too! Plus, I've got a little gal so outside peeing is no easy task!

That's just how it goes. The cop could have given her a break, but he wasn't obligated to and sometimes we just have to deal with these things. I don't think she should fight it. Yeah he was two, yeah there are excuses, but the bottom line is pee in a public place.
This. I do think if he'd only hit the grass it'd be different. I have no problems with little boys peeing in the grass if there is an emergency, but peeing on anything besides grass is unacceptable.
