Not no one. Straight people in power.

"No one" used to consider women worthy of owning property or having jobs.

And it is changing all the time, and will continue to do so, and you will keep saying it isn't bigotry that fights against equality, and eventually the law will stop supporting the bigotry, and we will have marriage equality. Beautiful government marriage equality.

Right. Just like Jesus never implied that black people can marry white people. Or that slaves should be HAPPY! Or that women are property.

Not sure what you mean here ... Are you saying he did not discuss these issues.. or are you inflating/confusing issues to promote a point? Because-
Race is discussed.. religion is discussed re marriage.
Slavery is discussed, and how slaves should act.. It doesn't say they will be happy.. in fact he says as followers it will NOT be easy.
Women are NOT seen as property.. They are seen as Christ sees the church. He died for us.. Men are to do the same.

Britain, another country full of Christians, just legalized gay marriage!

Not sure this has the same effect as it would have in the US... meaning does this change medical beneficiaries for example?

I know, this one didn't exactly need resurrecting, but I was reading an article about New Jersey and I thought this phrase really said what I have been trying to say for ages about "the definition of marriage":
Awarding equivalent material benefits does not erase the stigma of separating a class of people from the core institutions of American life.
So that's what I meant to say 40 pages ago.
