Great article for those who continue to maintain that the Bible is their excuse for bigotry.

You mean a good article for those who want put down and to make fun of the Bible. Just trading one bigotry for another.

One of the things that bothers me so much is that first and foremost, I am a citizen of the United States and merely a resident of California. If I move to another state, I may give up my residency but I don't give up my citizenship nor my rights as a citizen.

Hey if you don't like to read quotes from your own bible that's on you- I personally love the bible - and love church-------- just not those who twist such a beautiful book to their own sick ends.

You can take a verse out of context and twist it to make it sound any way you want. They sacrificed animals in the old testament too but thankfully we aren't required to do that anymore.

You certainly can. That's the point of the article

Right. The point of the article is to take verses and twist them out of context. The quoted Matthew 19:9. Lets quote the rest of the verses around it in context.

3 Some Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?”

4 “Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ 5 and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’ 6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

7 “Why then,” they asked, “did Moses command that a man give his wife a certificate of divorce and send her away?”

8 Jesus replied, “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. 9 I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.”

You bolded the part presumable referring to Adam and Eve? So? Probably no one would argue with you that men and women exist. How they came to exist of course people disagree with (as well as that whole sibling incest thing if you take the Adam and Eve story literally- ick!) do you support sibling incest if you take the Adam and Eve story as a modern day basis for law creation?

As I said. There are a lot of things in the old testament that changed after Jesus came. No I don't use those things as a modern day basis for laws today. Lot's daughters slept with him too when they thought they were the last people on earth. That wasn't portrayed as something good. There are a lot of things that happened in the old testament that were very barbaric. We don't sacrifice animals because Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice. We don't have polygamous marriages because Jesus said marriage is between one male and one female. You know if there were gays from the beginning it still would have been incest... brother with brother and sister with sister.... ever think of that? Except the whole point was to populate the earth, so I don't think that would have accomplished the goal.

Then why are you quoting and bolding things about "in the beginning" if thats all moot?????

/you just masterfully disproved your debate point. Thank you.

(and there were "gays from the beginning". Sodom and Gomorroh anyone? Plenty of talk of "the gay" from the beginning.
