My girl friend has a wicked sense of humor so we had some big fun with the things people would say to her, but I was shocked. Really couldnt understand how people would think it was okay to say those things to her (my mil is one that said the stupidest)
Molly, Morgan, Mia and Carson
It is really kind of unreal. For me, I have been holding steady where I am for about a year and a half, so i was pretty surprised. I mean, heck, I see the birthday girl weekly. Nothing has changed.
I know that I have said stupid things - and likely will again. I was attempting to bond with a mom about how incredible mama bodies are - putting on baby weight, growing people, but I could tell that it made her really uncomfortable. I felt terrible about that. Completely not what I was trying to do.
sigh, there will always be misunderstandings and I sincerely think that no one intends to be hurtful. But when I told my sweetheart about the comments at the party, he was a little shocked.
(Lisa, I am kinda dying to know what your MIL said.)
This thread has been good for me. I tend to think overweight people are the only ones who get self concious. Obviously that is not the case. I have lost about 40 lbs in the last 2 1/2 years, I love it when people notice and commit on it. I still have a really long way to go, but it gives me encouragement and strength when someone mentions it. I need to be more careful what I say to others.
