    Default fluff - Blinds/curtains/drapes/nothing

We are in the process of remodelling our kitchen. Help me settle a debate with DH and tell me what is over your kitchen window. What do you think is in stile now for both a Dining room and also for a kitchen? Thanks!

We have nothing over our kitchen windows, but they are also hardly ever open. I may get something if we ever redo our kitchen, but I also have three double windows, one in a bay window style to cover.

Our dining room really doesn't have windows. The office end does but the dining room opens onto the kitchen, lounge, office and spare front room

We have sun-blocking curtains. Ours is east facing and in the summer it can get really hot. I think they are nice but more classic than trendy I think.

Shades. Easier to wipe down with grease particles flying in the air.

I have shades on my kitchen windows, and curtains on my sliding door in the 'eating' area. I would leave them open all the time though, but DH hates open blinds at night and closes all the curtains. When he was little he was scared of what he couldnt see out the windows when it got dark, and now he just doesnt like it.

I have blinds with scarves on most of my windows. I just like that look.

Thanks. We need something that can be closed at night because we live so close to the neighbors.

I have "mini-blinds" on all of my windows and I HATE THEM with a passion. They are horrible. They are too small to clean with the normal blind cleaner thingies but too fragile to just clean by wiping them down. Our neighbors who moved in since us have nice wood blinds, they are about 2-inch slats, and so easy to clean. I'd do those if I was doing my own. I like blinds better than curtains or shades because you can let in some light while still blocking most of the view from outside.

My house already had the nice 2 inch blinds on the windows in all the living areas when we moved in and I love them. That is why I just have scarves on my windows because the blinds are already there to cover the windows but the scarves just kind of frame the windows to dress it up a little. It is kind of weird because our house was a foreclosure and they wrote on the walls and all kinds of stuff but the nice blinds were still there.
