We never did anything really fancy when camping, just good basics that heat up well on a campfire. My favorite was always breakfast and never had to be anything fancier than bacon and eggs!
I am not a camper.
Camping to me is staying in a motel instead of a hotel.
Food must be at a restaurant.

haha I'm with Laurie. I do not camp. I've been in a campground in an RV and that was enough.
It's pretty much my one "high maintenance" thing. I sleep in a bed inside.

Too funny. We are going camping Memorial Day weekend. This will be our first time going camping with the girls. We will be close enough to home that we can go back home if it does not work out. They are very excited about it though. DH and I went camping for our first anniversary and had a wonderful time.
I used to go camping a lot when I was younger, mostly out of necessity. When we would go on trips to places like Yellowstone the hotels are very expensive and we couldn't afford it, so we would camp instead. We didn't ever get very creative on the food though, it was generally hot dogs or whatever else we could cook easily on a grill, or cold sandwiches. I know everyone usually says that you have to have Smores whenever you camp out but I never really liked them.

I am a Girl Guide leader (and coming from a larger family) so I do lots of camping, both in cabins (in the winter) and tents.
All-time favourite camp food: CHIPMUNKS!!!
OK, now that I have scared you all, to make Chipmunks to take a brownie and slice in half horizontally, if iced flip icing part to middle, in the middle of the sliced brownie put in chocolate mints (I use Andies but not sure if you guys have that brand), wrap in foil and place in coals to warm up. Messy but soooo very good.
When we first take a group of girls out camping and tell them we are making chipmunks we make a big production of having to make traps to catch chipmunks and we blind fold them before their first taste

Tin foil dinners - put veggies, protein of some kind & spices, wrap in tin foil and put on the coals. YUM!

I like to bring chili that's already made for the first night and just heat it up. that way dinner is extremely quick while we set up camp.

It's our long weekend in Canada this weekend. DH is already on his way with the trailer and I'll get the kids in a couple hours once I'm done packing. Ugh. We do the usual - smokies, burgers, chicken, salads etc. This weekend our friends are deep frying a turkey and I have to do broccoli with cheese sauce for that meal. We also do s'mores for the kids, and I'm doing roasted hot wings, bacon wrapped shrimp and mozzarella sticks (all gf since I can't have anything 'normal' anymore). Lots of veggies, watermelon, gotta have sunflower seeds (I love them), popsicles, etc.
