I'll be the first to admit that I'm not into the whole Duggar thing, but I got sucked into a lunch room discussion today. And I can't search for relevant articles because I'm at work but there's apparently a lot of people upset about how Jana & Jinger Duggar are being treated.
Supposedly Jinger Duggar (age 21) has been talking for years about wanting to get away, explore the big world she's been so sheltered from, maybe move to NYC, try to be a professional photographer; her parents have responded that none of that would be appropriate for her. And now Jana (age 25) who for years has been raising & educating her younger siblings & cooking for the whole family & babysitting her brother's kids, is supposedly really ticked off because she was edited out of a recent episode where Josh & Anna were shown taking their kids on vacation "without any family help" -- except that they'd taken Jana along to babysit & she'd been Tweeting about it! And supposely Jana posted some nasty Tweets about being cut out of the show, which were quickly deleted. Both have also resisted being pushed into a courtship, with Jinger saying she wants to find her own husband (which seems completely reasonable to many) and Jana saying she'll wait for God, not her father, to lead her to her husband. So why are these young women, both of them old enough to legally leave home without their parents' permission, and both of them with skills that could earn a decent living, still there when they apparently aren't happy with the situation. One of my co-workers said she wrote to Jana & said midwives here make awesome money & her roommate is leaving in March so Jana has a place to stay if she wants. So what do you think? Will one, or both, of these girls start rocking the proverbial boat and/or fly the Duggar coop? If so, do you think they will they get a spin-off show to follow them or will they just disappear quietly?
