I lied We ended up at a friends house and didnt get home till almost 8. Then when I went to put the jack-o-lantern out I realized my front porch light is burned out. So we brought our pumpkin into the living room and kept all our candy We get very few kids anyways so I dont feel too bad. We typically go out really early since our kids are so little, and we do the mall in the afternoon, then I sort the stuff we dont like out of the candy bags and give that away to the trick or treaters we get. If I bought candy just for that we would end up with so much extra and then I would eat it!

We were back home at 7:20 and the lights were out before 8. I looked down the street and didn't see any kids, so that was it! In the hour and a half they came DH said he had over 100 kids.

We start out later here because it doesn't get dark until about 7. We usually have most from 7-8 and then a few stragglers until about 9.

We only got about 20 kids. DH bought a huge bag of candy, and I was passing out handfuls but we still had a ton left so DH took it to school. DH and T and M (our exchange daughter) stayed home to pass out candy until I got done putting R to bed around 6:45. Then they left to go Trick or Treating, and I stayed in to hand out candy. We didn't have a lot of kids come to our house, but T only went around the block (it was COLD last night) and he filled his big bucket about 3/4's of the way, so DH brought him back. He was in bed by 8, and then we turned off our light by about 9, but I would say that our last trick or treaters came by about 8. Oh well, maybe next year the turn out will be better if it isn't so freezing cold.

This year was actually very warm for us. It was unusual to have it so warm for Halloween.

The light was on at 6pm but we didn't start walking until around 6:30, a few minutes before it got completely dark. I think it was around 8:30, a 3 year old straggler came around and I dumped the rest of the candy in his bag and turned off the light. We just leave a bowl out on the front step as we walk around and I can't hand out at the same time. This neighborhood is perfect because it's only about 70 houses and just enough (and not everyone gives out candy).
