18 Year Old Looking at 20 Years for Anti-Government Lyrics On Facebook The Free Patriot

I know this is probably a biased website, so if someone has another article for balance, that would be great.

Do you think 20 years in prison is an appropriate punishment for an 18 year old posting lyrics on Facebook?

    Default *references to swear words*

    snopes.com: Cameron D'Ambrosio

Here is a snope article that references local papers.

The whole line is referenced there...it's not just about rapping..he also says he'll beat a murder charge.

Bombs, murder....BIG references and a BIG mistake. He also has a violent history.

This is not free speech and can be viewed as a threat.

    Default Reference to rape.

I am not saying what he did was smart, or that he should not be punished in some way, but 20 years is way over the top to me. 20 years in prison will ruin his life when he has not actually hurt anyone. 20 years is a longer sentence than if he had committed rape.

He hasnt been sentenced to 20 years. That is what the charge carries. He will probably plead to a misdemeanor and get a fine and some community service hours. a DUI technically is like a year in jail or something. Most people don't serve any jail time but lose their license for 30 days and pay a fine.

Sure. He made a threat that can cause widespread panic. A quick google search shows a felony conviction of a terrorist threat is sometimes 40+ years.

I wasn't able to copy and paste from snopes but there is a lot more to the story than this. The judge said he has an escalating history of violence.

Breaks down how and why he was arrested and details what's on his facebook page.

    Friend: Rapper

Anger built up over being picked on at school (where have I heard this before? Oh...every school shooting.)

"He posted a threat in the form of rap where he mentioned the White House, the Boston Marathon bombing, and said ‘everybody you will see what I am going to do, kill people,’” Methuen Police Chief Joe Solomon told local newspaper The Valley Patriot."
