Laurie, I have had at least a handful of jobs where the first person they hired didn't work out and they called me. I hope that happens for you. It's usually because they don't want to bite the bullet and pay what really needs to be paid to get the job done, and hired someone cheaper who couldn't actually do it.

Gloria, I hope you have a great trip visiting your son & grandbaby! She's a doll, but she seems to be thinking, WTF are you doing taking my picture?

Laurie, I'm sorry to hear that. Their loss!

Whats everyone up to lately? Good weekends?

We had a baseball game on Saturday, Soccer game Sunday and the Youth/Adult Choir spring concert on Sunday too. Spring is SOOOO busy...fortunately with very enjoyable stuff

The concert was lovely, our choir director is so talented. I really value the music education he provides to Emma and the rest of the choir!

Most of the weekend was dedicated to Alyssa's birthday party. 4 little girls spent the night. We finished up school for the year, so now I am focusing on getting my grades turned in, planning for the summer, and planning for the next school year. We are going camping soon, so I have been planning for that as well.

My husband graduated this weekend! The kids were so patient and good throughout the very long and boring graduation ceremony and we had a fun lunch with friends afterwards. We all took a long afternoon nap and he and I went out and celebrated at one of our favorite restaurants then went out dancing, it was a great night. Sunday we had a brunch and then last night we were out to dinner sans kids with my family to celebrate my parents 40th anniversary at this wonderful restaurant. We had a private room and had fun looking through their wedding album and reminiscing/talking about their marriage/life together. 40 years is a pretty cool accomplishment. I'm hitting full on panic mode as this graduation party has now swelled to 115 people and I'm dealing with my panic by procrastinating.

Oh, and we fired our builder and hired someone else, 4.5 months into the project and he still wasn't finished. He thinks that we are going to pay him the outstanding balance. Uh, no. We've also discovered that he committed fraud ~ charging us for one sort of cabinets and actually installing much cheaper ones. So, yeah, not paying him. It could get ugly so I have a pit in my stomach. We are not the suing type ~ and we won't sue him for the fraud or the breach of contract.....unless he makes a big stink about this. He should be RELIEVED we let him go, he simply isn't capable of finishing this project and the amount we owe him is a fraction of the entirety of the project. If he makes this ugly we will sue him, unearth his fraud and the myriad of lies he has told us over the past 4.5 months, and do everything in our power to get the word out as to what he did to us/his actual character and the quality of his work. Filing complaints with the better business bureau etc now. Very stressful

Oy Melissa, I'm so sorry. Awful and creepy.

    Loved the gardening pics!

I can't even keep houseplants alive.

We had a nice quiet weekend, lots of time with the kids, and my brother & his wife were in town, which was nice.

Next weekend is a little crazy, I enjoyed the calm before the storm.

    Ditto this!

You don't have to sue to report him to the Better Business Bureau. Also, if he's licensed with your state, report him there. Other people looking for a contractor look to both of those places for *honest* and *competent* contractors and if he's not one, you need to let others know that. Imagine how much easier this project might have been if you'd known six months ago that he did this to someone else!
