Melissa~what a headache! I'm glad you are getting rid of him and I hope it finishes up quickly with the new contractor.

Laurie~Quiet weekends are awesome. Next weekend is my birthday and then we are fairly quiet for the summer. I cannot wait!

Melissa, hooray to the first paragraph, boo to the second. I hope for his sake and yours, this builder does not make this more painful than it needs to be! 40 years is an amazing thing! Congrats to your parents.

So i'm trying to get this whole summer care thing squared away this week. Trying to interview everyone who applied for the job that we are interested in. I emailed this one girl who said she was interested and definitely wanted to meet this week, but she couldn't do thursday or friday. So i called her back and asked if she could do tonight, because tuesday and wednesday were difficult for us. This morning she said yes. But she just called to tell me that she can't make it and would like to reschedule....the reason being that her family has decided to go out to dinner together.

Ummmmm...okay? I know that this is a more informal process than a full time job with a company, but seriously? Would you ever tell a potential employer you aren't going to make it to an interview because you want to go out to eat? Bizarre...plus i told her this morning tues and wed. don't work well for us and she already told me thurs and fri don't work for her.

Guess she doesn't really want the job!

Kim -- when I was interviewing sitters, I was using a website, so I'd schedule phone calls with the ones I liked and if that went well, I'd invite them over to meet us & the kids. One of them was scheduled for 10:30 a.m. and when I called she didn't answer. I tried a few times. An hour later she called me back and said she'd slept through her alarm. Needless to say, she did not get the job!

I also had a very specific ad placed and would get people writing to me saying, "I'd like the job, but I don't drive," or "I'd like the job, but I'm not comfortable being in the house with your husband."

THEN DON'T APPLY FOR THE JOB.

    People can be very annoying.

Anyway I may have a solution to our summer problem, my neighbor across the street wants to share her sitter and since the kids all get along, it would be easy to work out any conflicts. Fingers crossed.

I would just like to say that I hate tornadoes. Such devastation! It has been just over 2 years since the major tornadoes that came through here. I can not even imagine a tornado hitting a school with children in it.

So sad for everyone affected by the tornado in Oklahoma .

Our weekends seem to fly by. The boys and I ran a 5K on Saturday. It was a ton of fun! It was sponsored by our local minor league team, and the start and finish were on the field. It was a gorgeous day (although a little on the warm side for 3.1 miles with no shade), and we all had fun. The best part - free hot dogs, brats and beer! And it wasn't the cheap crap, either!

Me, too, but it didn't seem quite right to "like" this.
David Letterman is retiring. Such great memories of watching him over the past thirty-two years!
