The news in OK, is very sad. Prayers go out to the families in that town.

    As for me,
Sabotaged my summer again. Signed Emma up for a tumbling class every Thursday night.

    I'm really bad at this.

Aww, I am sure you will have a fun summer either way.

AFM - This AM we went to the zoo, then I have been working in my garden. I moved the rest of my cucumber plants from my back garden to the front garden. I am not sure why, but they were not doing well in the back. The ones that I already moved are doing well. I also built a trellis for the cucumbers out of bamboo. My garden is really starting to take off. The lettuce is just about ready to harvest. I have green tomatoes and several other tomato flowers. (My tomatoes had been doing poorly until I added plant food, now they are doing very well.) I also have turnips, peppers, peas, zucchini, butternut squash, pumpkin watermelon, potatoes, sweet potatoes, garlic, onion, carrots, and spinach.

I like to putter in the garden, but if I was a Pilgrim dependent on my garden, I would have starved long ago.

At least with a weekly class, you can miss one or two over the course of the summer and not feel TOO bad about it. I know that Tiven is going to miss at least one night of baseball because it falls on the Summer Solstice and we have other plans, but I figure she's going to have as much (or maybe more) fun with us so it's all good. And TBH right now our "other plans" are to MAKE some plans so if we don't come up with something better than baseball, we'll take her to that. It's fun with friends in the outdoors, and kind of a ritual in its own way, so we could make that work as a solstice celebration.

Kim, you inspired me, I just got the only 2 weeks available at our local Y camp for Nathaniel, and his 2nd week he can do a half day of Lego camp there.

Juliet has more options, so I'll work on that next, plus the rest of the summer for him. And we booked our yearly outing to Pennsylvania too! We stay in our favorite B&B and we love the woman who runs it so much that we stay in touch with her all year long. Last year she even let me having a baking adventure with her and she taught me to make scones while we drank mojitos.

Has anyone heard an update from Fuchsia? I know she's posted once or twice about random things but I'm curious how they're all doing. If someone's in touch with her, please let know that I'm still thinking about them.

Yay for scheduled summers! I joke about the fact that I ruined my unscheduled summer, but i really don't mind that much..I know they are things the kids will enjoy. I told Emma i signed her up for that class and she was super excited about it.

Aside from re-signing up Nathalie for swimming lessons, the last thing i'm going to do is sign Lillian up for a theatre camp. She participated in the school play this year and really enjoyed it. I asked her if she wanted to do it and she said yes! I had to be sure she really wanted to do it before i signed her up because its kind of pricey.

That B&B sounds awesome. How did you happen to find it? We had a yearly vacation spot when i was growing up, i'd love to find that kind of thing for us, but we just haven't found it yet.

I don't know about Fuchsia. I hope they are doing well.

The kids and I were talking about the Y as it's where they take their swimming lessons and all-knowing Ben looks at me like I'm a moron and goes "Mom. It's the Y...M...C...A."

I was hoping to hear from Fuchsia too. If anyone has any news, please share.

The B&B was a miracle....I found it on the web. We would go to that same area every year and stay in various places but none of them really had the charm we wanted until we found this one. It's an organic B&B run by this wonderful woman. The breakfasts are the best we've ever had in our lives. The price is great and we get our own little place to stay on her property that includes two bedrooms, a huge working kitchen, giant living room, wireless internet, and a private entrance. We have breakfast downstairs in her house.

A few years in a row, Juliet would throw up in the car on the way (although now we give her Dramamine) and we'd arrive with vomit-soaked clothes and Barb (the owner) would just take it from our hands and put it in the wash, knowingly and lovingly. Last time she even had presents for the kids. She sends my son cute emails as well. Her husband is really nice too. We were very lucky to find it.

Hey, just found out I'm still up for the NBC job. She wrote to me and said she's "thrilled" that I'm interested but they move like a glacier over there.
