I know! There's a "regular" wedding afterwards with the pastor from my in-laws' church, but first is the Scientology one. Wowza.

We'll have to get details Laurie!

Kim, I've been in your position as well, when it comes to sports. When is the next game?

We had a nice anniversary today, besides having to work . Dh gave me a really thoughtful card this morning, and then we went out to dinner with my family tonight. The highlight of the day - my 11 yr old Matt went to the grocery store by himself while dh and I were at taekwondo with Nathan, and bought us a little chocolate cake with pink roses on it, with his own money. He even had the bakery add "Happy Anniversary" to it! He is going to make a good boyfriend/husband some day!

She examined Darla carefully and determined that she had a tumor that had perforated her uterus and she was definitely dying. So we said goodbye, Tiven went to the waiting room, and I held Darla while they put the gas mask on her and she went right to sleep. I didn't stay for the shot as the vet said it can be kind of traumatic for onlookers since it has to go into her heart. I saw that once in Pulp Fiction, I don't need to see it again. At dinner we lit three candles: a white one to represent light & life, a black one to represent darkness & loss, and a red one to represent the special occasion which was our saying goodbye to Darla. I would have never thought I'd willingly have a rodent living in my home, but Darla sure was a sweet one and we're all going to miss her.
I am so sorry, this made me so sad. I came to this thread specifically to see how Darla was doing and this was not the news I hoped for. I love pets but I hate the part of losing them. Have you all talked about getting another one?

I think i've decided that he, with my help, just needs to ask his coach what he can work on to be better, and show him very explicitly that Aodhan is interested in working hard.

I've actually asked a few other people for advice and several of them, including my co-worker who is also a coach, and my sister whos kids are heavily involved in sports and both of them felt it would be appropriate to approach the coach myself and tell him that Aodhan's confidence has been shaken (without explicitly blaming it on the coach) and say he needs some validation in some form or another. I still haven't decided if i want to go that route because I'm afraid it could backfire.
You sound like me in that regard. In my past when those kinds of discussions have come up I've been able to tell in the first few seconds how it's going to pan out. Usually it doesn't end well. I have to work on that - I know I get too emotional about stuff I shouldn't necessarily and believe I was born under the wrong astrological sign. Diplomacy and the ability to take my feelings out of every situation are skills I lack and I blame that on being a scorpio (because us scorpios are so good at assuming responsibility for our bad behaviour ) Don't envy your position, really. Let us know what you decide to do.

    Stacey, so sorry about Darla.

We have a pet now - a little betta fishy. His (or her, for all I know) name is Jester Max. Ben wanted Jester (a la "Yeehaw, Jester's dead" - seriously, that's where he got the name, from Top Gun when it was on TV a few months ago), and Claire wanted Max. Max is a silly name for a fish, IMO, but I don't dare veto her choice, so he has a plural name. Even DH is getting attached to it. He's putting his face in front of the tank and talking to it like it's a baby or something. He sounds so ridiculous I have to walk away.

Please send good vibes my way. . .I just had a phone interview with an HR person at the Cooking Channel!!! Omg!!! This wouldn't be a move up, but it would be going to a place I already love. Let's hope I can make it to the next phase. I've been trying to get in at the Food Network/Cooking Channel for years.

I am sure you have already said, but do you mind if I ask what you do again?

Laurie thats so exciting! Good luck to you!!And a SCIENTOLOGY wedding???? Oh I want details. I read "beyond belief" a month or two ago ~ fascinating look into Scientology. I had no idea how completely ...... wild......it is.

I got a job offer last night, completely out of the blue. My old mentor texted me offering me a work from home position working directly for/with her. I don't think that I'm interested, but the number she dangled was a little mind boggling, so we have a call scheduled for this afternoon. I never really pictured myself going back to work.....but the timing of this is just so strange, literally a day after we find out DD gets into all day school, and the week my basement gets finished (I could have an office down there), its just odd. So, worth talking about anyway.

Stacey I'm sorry about Darla. It sounds like you held a beautiful little ceremony celebrating her life.

We are and shall forever remain a pet free home.

Melissa, that's awesome. I think you should at least talk about it. Very cool when those things come your way and if you can work from home that's terrific.

Bonita -- I am a website director in the tv industry. And I'm a food blogger for my hobby, so that would be amazing!
