I'm watching lots of Cooking Channel tonight and hoping I get called in for an interview. They have some really fun shows.

Bonita, it may be different where you are but Lyme disease is really prevalent around here (like upstate NY...so you can relate!) Most docs will give a prophylactic dose of an antibiotic if they know there has been a tick bite. At least in the Albany, NY area i know...not 100% sure about where I am now, but my brother in law who just graduated from med school and will be working here said thats pretty standard. I think it might be good to at least tell the doctor what happened. They may tell you to just do what you are doing, wait and see. But I would recommend checking with them. And remember that it can be hard to spot at first if she does come down with symptoms because the initial symptoms look an awful lot like other much more common and mundane things.

I agree with Kim. My dad's husband got it out in Fire Island and it took forever to diagnose. Definitely good to be proactive.

Growing up in NY, we really freaked out when we saw Caitlyn had a tick. However, Lyme Disease is not in TN. There are some illnesses that are in this area, but they said they would mimic the flu. The .gov website that I looked at gave a list of symptoms to call the doctor, and she has had none of them.

I'll be taking Ben in to get checked this morning. He still has low fever, but complaining a great deal of stomach pain when he eats. He also has developed a strange speckly red rash on the top and bottom of his feet. The last time I saw anything like it was on Claire when she had hand, foot & mouth about 4 years ago. No other HFM symptoms though - no boogers or rash anywhere else.
