Ooo, snow. I think another year has past with no notable snow. We did get a dusting one day, but it was gone within hours. My main goal is for a deep freeze to kill off all the bugs, but we have not had one of those in two years. My hopes for this year are past. If we got a deep freeze at this point, it would hurt a lot of farmers. I have moved on to thinking about my garden.
OMG DD saw a bug today and freaked out! One thing with having such a long cold winter is the lack of bugs for most of the year (and snow is so CLEAN too), but unfortunately we make up for it during the summer. I am amazed some of the hardier ones are making an appearance already. The other crumby thing about no bugs is that it takes about a month every spring to convince my kids that they are not really scared of bugs. It is really annoying.
BTW, we also make up for the clean snow, with the grossest, stickiest mud in the world.
Mom to Arianna (5), Conner (3) and Trent (my baby)
Kyla I have that same problem with the kids and the bugs every spring! Of course, i really hate the return of the bugs myself so I probably should talk.
Happy St. Paddy's day everyone!
I'm finishing up the cake for Lillian. She has decided she wants it to be lime....so i made a line filling and frosting. The frosting looks gross because it has lime zest in it, specks of green. It reminds you of chive cream cheese, NOT frosting! It sure tastes pretty good though
Then its off to the in-laws for a mid day irish dinnah!
I'm still getting carbs in some root veggies (and the occasional beer ) but I'm just cutting way, way back. I have had a ton of digestive issues over the past year but until the other day I'd only been officially diagnosed with lactose intolerance, which is not a big deal. However, my blood work kept coming back all wacky so my doctor sent me for an abdominal ultrasound and we seem to have figured out what's wrong with me, and it sucks. I have fatty infiltration of my liver, called NAFLD (non alcoholic fatty liver disease). I'm not metabolizing fats properly and instead my liver is absorbing that fat. Funny heh, how you can look healthy on the outside but not be healthy on the inside. I also have IBS - alternating months of diarrhea and constipation. The diarrhea has subsided a lot since I cut out certain kinds of dairy. I have to get a handle on this liver thing NOW because it can turn into worse things if left too long. So it's lots of fruits and veggies and protein, with some types of carbs that are also high in fiber, like lentils, chick peas and other legumes. I'm starting a more intense work out program tomorrow to try and kick my metabolism up and I'm taking milk thistle to help strengthen my liver.
Random thoughts for the day.
We are supposed to get a foot of snow tomorrow. I'm kind of excited to have a 'last snow hurrah' yet a little disappointed too because now that I've bought some new spring clothes, i'm anxious for spring to actually feel like spring.
I've been eyeing our local summer concert scene awaiting for some good fun ones to come! I found out today that the Last Summer on Earth tour is coming again this year. This year its BNL, Ben Folds Five and Guster. I LOVE guster and it makes me think of college again. I just might have to go. I"m actually very impressed with the acts they've been drawing to our little, very out-of-the-way city the last three years.
I am not prepared at all for Easter.

I like Guster too, AND Ben Folds Five. I interviewed Ben Folds once and omg, he had me laughing my *** off. One of the most fun pre-interviews I've ever done. They performed on the show I was working on too, and they let us pick the songs, which was pretty great. Really cool, interesting, nice guys. In our pre-interview we talked a lot about his twins. I wasn't a parent yet but he and his wife had just had twins, a boy and a girl, and he had lots to say about babies and girls and boys and all that stuff. Loved it.
We are expecting some snow today, but right now it's just sunny and cold.
Today is my phone interview with the recruiter for that job I am hoping to get. . .we'll see! This is just step one.
Good luck! You'll have to tell us how it goes. And i don't know why but for some reason i never thought I'd picture you job hunting, which is totally based on nothing rational really because I really don't know much about your work LOL. But i feel like I've known you for so long over the internet and you've been where you are for a long time, right? So i guess its just hard to picture people going somewhere else.Today is my phone interview with the recruiter for that job I am hoping to get. . .we'll see! This is just step one.
GOod luck Laurie!!! Kim I'm scoping out the summer camp schedule ~ hahahaha I've gotten so lazy about going to concerts. We usually see Buffet and Bruce Springsteen every year, thats about it. The summer camp thing is a lot more confusing and challenging as we are fitting it in around weekends at the beach and other events, its like putting a jigsaw puzzle together. This will be the first year I'm sending the little guy for a week or two, which will mean a week of 5 mornings all to myself HEAVEN!
Our St Pats revelry was fun and they painted my entire basement this weekend ~ the wood floor is going in in the next few days ~ after 2 months of work its really coming together! It's supposed to be completed before easter so I'm really really excited and I LOVE the paint. Can't wait to get it all set up down there.
Lisa thats rough. I'm sorry that you are dealing with that and I so hope that the dietary changes help your physical symptoms.
