I am the same....I struggle with it like crazy.

The best advice I got was to remember that when you're interviewing, it's not about how much you want the job or how great it would be for you, but about how you can take THEIR headaches away, how hiring you will make their lives easier.

Also one of the questions I asked at my recent interviews that people seem to like is, "After you've hired someone, a few months in, how will you know that you hired the right person and they're doing the job you want them to do?"

    Good luck!

Oh it effing annoys me. At work I have to go into my Word options all.the.time and reset my choice of English to CANADIAN. Oy. It mysteriously seems to find it's way back to U.S. spell check once every few months. It's like when IT does a big overnight reboot of the whole system my computer says to me the next day "Nope, can't spell it that way. Take out the 'u' and spell it right or I'll turn your current project into a redlined nightmare."

I have this dream of leaving my current profession and becoming a florist. I have no real skills in flower arranging and have never worked in a flower shop, but I just love flowers and plants and I feel so at ease when I walk into a nice little boutique. I would love to feel that way all day. I think law might've not been the best career choice in terms of stress level and creativity.

I have toms, and the kids each have toms. I love the kid's, they are very cute in small sizes. Mine....not so cute in the "boat" size. I ordered them online and I don't love the way they look on me so I don't wear them that often. I also have a pair of crocks, they are hideously ugly and I only wear them at home. Someone gave them to me...I would never buy them. The kids ones are okay, though...

Good luck, Jessica! I also hate interviewing (both sides of it)

I find Crocs hideously ugly. I got my husband a pair to use as water shoes when we were in BC and made him promise never to wear them in public beyond that. They're horrible.

I am not familiar with Toms.

They are not that popular here but are very popular in CA where I moved from. I also like Bobs (Sketchers brand that look pretty much identical to Toms)....I've found that for my 4-year old the Bobs have held up better and still look nice while the Toms look like they've been to hell and back.

The Toms are cute! Are they comfortable? I hate wearing grown-up lady shoes but now that it's summer I can't wear boots with my skirts anymore.

I don't get the Toms thing. To me they look like the shoes that people would be doing the thorazine shuffle down the hallways of floor 4 in. They are very trendy around here and it isn't a trend I'm jumping on.

Jessica good luck!!! I can't even believe I'm saying this but I think that I'm joining you on the interviewing bandwagon. This opportunity just appears to be too good to pass up without at least giving it a fair shake. I submitted my resume two nights ago and have started looking into au pairs. Although it would be a work from home position there would be travel involved, and with the way my husband travels it just wouldn't be possible to do without live in help, and I'd want someone to be able to help with the foodshopping/cooking etc if I was working. I'd love to hook up with a native spanish speaker as we have been wanting to learn Spanish as a family anyway. With my two bigs in full day school and the little guy in preschool three mornings a week and napping all afternoon still when I look at how many hours a week I would actually be "missing out" on with my kids its in the single digits, and the position is positively dreamy. Who knows?!?!?!

There is a local moderately upscale shoe store nearby who sells an alternative to toms. The reason she said they sell them, and not toms is because they have much better support inside and are far more comfortable..that the support inside Toms is not good. It might also be because these alternatives were more expensive than toms and fit their price range better.
